Re: Constipation in 6 month old
Asked by MelanieC
Question:
My baby has started on solids and has been getting constipated... what foods can I give her ( or shouldn't be giving her) to avoid this problem? She won't drink anything except
for breastmilk...
My Advice:
My little girl Kasey has suffered from constipation and to some extent still does. The only thing that she likes to drink is her toddler formula(she is 2), and even that is a rare occrance. I have tried countless times to get her to drink water, juice, diluted juice, cordial, and even flavoured milk, but to no avail. I am worried that with summer coming, she will become dehydrated really fast. She was really sick this month and really got into the Heinz fruit gels. They have worked wonders as they have a high water content. At this stage I think that would be the best thing to do. If that fails you certainly should take her to the Dr. Kasey is also sometimes on para choc to help as it is a laxative. She always has baby apple and oatflakes for breakfast and dinner is chock full of vegetables(carrots, potato, pumpkin, broccoli, cauliflower and corn). Bananas are also a really good thing to try, but my girl don't like them anymore.
Sorry that I rambled, but I hope it helps.
