Changing Your Toddler's Nappy

wildice by wildice Speaking(October 2008) (rank 244th)

I heard the best piece of advice recently for a wriggly or crying toddler.

Jasmine simply cries when I try to change her nappy, especially the pookie ones.

If I sing 'Baa, baa, Black Sheep' or some other nursery rhyme, she calms down and lets me get on

with the job quickly and easily.

Give it a go - it's amazing what a little singing and eye contact will do!

Re: Changing Your Toddler's Nappy

Singing surely brings comfort and security to a child, even as they grow older it can soothe them.  Keep this habit, it is priceless.

Peace

Re: Changing Your Toddler's Nappy

Hi there,

That is the exact same thing i do with my 18 mnth old.  I sing "Toot, toot, chugga, chugga, big red car" to my boy (he is Wiggles obsessed!!)  I also find it helps to keep him still and settled after bath time, so i can get him properly dried then dressed.

Good advice

cheers, Lisa
