The perfect education in school.

SpartanQueen by SpartanQueen In Nappies(October 2008) (rank 500+)

We might have different views on this one. I'll give mine here.

I grew up in a Christian Family. A Baptist family in fact. During those years of growing up, I witnessed my dad worked hard to give us a good education. He never believed in the public system

so he either put us in a private or home school program. I never understood that when I was young. He would literaly scrape for money just for my sisters and I to go to a private school. He was even a cab driver for about half a year when he had trouble at his hotel company.

Eventually, we finished school and now I'm left with the choice for my kid. What to do with his education. Should I put him in the same path I took, or would there be a cheaper alternative or maybe a practical one for that matter.

Nowadays, the public school system is either a hostile territory or a place for misfortune. Why you ask? It's my opinion. The past decade witnessed the crime and violence that happened inside or about the public school. It is so sad to think that in some sense it has become a battleground for others.

Going to private ones, well, price literelly has a say on this one. Lucky to have a scholarship but how about less fortunate families. Then, there is the status inside. If there are gangs in public schools, there are fraternities and sororities in private ones.

Then we come to home school. For one, it is a controlled enviroment. But along with this one comes the isolation. Intereaction within the family but no social contact with the same age for the children, especially if you have only one child.

So, now we come to the decision, whether we like it or not. Where to put our kids on. For some, there might be no choice at all. Yet, when we think about it, when we look back furthur, we did have a choice. Even before we started a family.

So, there you go. It is simple, you might think, not even a good subject. But I would disagree and tell you, the most simple things will confound the complicated ones and that even a young child can turn the history of an entire society. Education, your choice.

Young Dad,

Tolentino, John Stephen

Re: The perfect education in school.

I agree, I thought all these through before my daughter started anywhere.  Over the years my decisions have been influenced by what is on offer and what I am able to provide.  I know that as time passes and she grows I shall consider each option at each stage and change as I see most appropriate for our situation and her welfare and development.

Thank you for sharing these options.  It is important you know the options with all the pros and cons in order to make an informed decision.

Peace
EF.x
