Temper Tantrums

supermommy by supermommy Crawling(October 2008) (rank 500+)
First let me say, I am a mommy of three boys. I find that if I just ignore the screaming, they eventually stop. Now on very rare occasionins I have to sit them down next to me and I have them tell me what it is thats bothering them. Maybe because
it makes them feel BIG!! My 4 yo comes to me now with even the slightest problem to talk rather than scream.

Re: Temper Tantrums

It is a great idea from the very beginning to teach kids a way to express themselves instead of throwing a tantrum. The best way to do this is to talk them through it (not on the height of the screaming, though - the best thing to do on this is, as you've mentioned to ignore it). But as they wind down, talk to them, validate their feelings and to teach feeling words (angry, happy, sad, mad, etc).
