Re: How do you help ur kids with tem`ps and pain when u have ran out of panadol?
Asked by lady-voodoo

Question:

i ran out of baby panadol last night and was up all night with my youngest with temps and him in

pain from his sinus infection. Is there anything i can do to help if this ever happens again?

My Advice: close your bath room door and run the hot water for a little while until the room is quite steamy, have your child in the bathroom with you while you run a luke warm bath, Steam will help with his sinus infection and the bath with help bring there temp down. You could also put them to bed with a cold washer and a bottle of water and freshen it when you check on him/her. That's about all i can think of to keep them comfy...I have had this problem with my boys quite a lot so now i always make sure i have medications like demazin, phenergan (if here old enough) in the medicine cabinate they are great back ups if you run out of nerofen or panadol especially if your children suffer from sinus prob alot. Good luck and take care, i hope your little one is feeling better

RCH Brisbane say do not put your child in any sort of bath or use washers if they have a temp.

Re: here's what i do

I dont know what the others have read, but what I read here is LUKE WARM BATH which is what I have been told to do with my daughter when she has a croup attack which she always has a temp of 39 for. ALSO the STEAM is perfect for any sort of breathing. I used to get sinus infections and I always steamed up the bathroom to help me breath..........

I did not read anywhere about a hot bath for a child.

Great advice. Is exactly what I do and my doc and PMH(kid hospital in Perth) told me to do for my daughter.

so sorry to offend but i do agree with these other minti members, it is highly dangerous to place your child in a hot bath when they have a temp......

Re: here's what i do

NO - NO - NO

NEVER place a child in a hot bath with a temperature as this is very very dangerous ! ! If you have NO panadol and the temp is hovering anywhere above 39*C then you really should be off to the hosptial as they can help with panadol . . .

If temp isn't that high then do as suggested below and strip of clothes, keep up fluids and also moisten the childs hair as damp heads can also help to ease a temp . . .

NEVER place a child in a hot bath with a temp and certainly NO steam . . .

Re: here's what i do

The only advice i have is DO NOT Put your child in a bath or use cold washers. The bath will  and cold washer only bring the surface temp down and the body thinks its to cool and it raises the temp. Keep up the fluids up, strip down to underware can make the child comfy.  This advice was given by the hospital when my daughter had a temp of over 40*c.
