Getting baby to sleep trick

mrscrumley by mrscrumley Talking(August 2006) (rank 327th)
A lot of baby swings/ seats have a vibration device installed in them to help soothe baby.

We had problems getting  on son to sleep when he was an infant, but we learned that vibration helped. We own a percussion back massager and learned that we could give
Fuller the same soothing vibration he got from the bouncy seat when we placed the back massager on the edge of his bed. Within minutes Fuller was asleep and we would go in and turn it off about 5 to 10 minutes after he had drifted to slumberland.

Once Fuller started moving in his sleep we stopped putting the massager in the crib and practiced other sleep routines.

Getting baby to sleep trick

Very clever idea....

I was expecting you to say that you put it under buby, but thankfully you didn't....

I also just wanted to add and to highlight that this advice stated and suggested the massager be put on the side and not under the baby. It isn't advisable to place anything like this on or under babies as massagers can cause problems.

I thought I'd add that as I could see a number of people doing this with their personal massagers...and these come with warnings about doing that....

Great tip though and thank you for sharing....

Vibration
My daughter don't mind her swinging chair, that has music and different speeds, but she hates the chair that vibrates. I can't even put her in it now.
I guess it may work for some babies, but never worked for mine :(

I've always had soft music playing, worked for all 3 of my kids, the older two still have their radio on when they go to bed

my son doesnt like the vibration this, he is more of a cuddle me pat my back and bum and rock mixed all into one kind of thing. that is, when he has trouble sleeping! he usually put himself to sleep no matter where he is. if he feels sleepy, he will sleep! Its fantastic! :)

Sleep Tip
Interesting.  My kids liked the vibrating bouncy seat.  Never would have thought to put a massager in the crib to soothe a little one who can't sleep!
