but lately he will wee and not say anything or poo and u have to smell it to know. i mean i put him on the potty every half hour and by chance i catch it. but he is refusing to 1 let me know and 2 refusing to use it. how do i get him back into his routine of letting me know.

Peeing in pants at school

I have a 9 year old that holds her urine in during day until her bladder can't hold it then she pees on herself wherever she is. Karate class, supermarket, car seat are some of the places she's chosen. She has been to doctors, specialist, therapist. They all say the same thing, this is not medical or emotional. She has never wet bed. How do I get her to use bathroom when in school or day care and how do I help her out of this behavior. I've tried taking everything away, earning things, grounding and none have helped. Her peers have been kind up until now and my fear is this will change soon.

What to do

Since having my son 17months ago, my periods are very irregular, sometimes coming early sometimes days late but they always come. My husband and I have been trying for our 2nd child since January and have had no luck. I have had ultrasounds on my ovaries and everything is ok. I have had blood tests they to were ok. My gynaecologist found nothing. She said just to keep trying because at least I was ovulating and having periods. It took only 4 months to fall pregnant with my son, I am not sure why its taking soo long this time around. Has this happened to anyone else and what should I do we are getting frustrated. I have tried using ovulation kits and saliva kits and have no luck. I also check my cervical fluid and dont know what else to do. I exercise daily either walking with my son or riding an indoor exercise bike I eat reasonably well dont drink or smoke. Have reasonable health. Please help.

I want a puppy

No point in going anon on this, after all to the best of my knowledge, not many other vet nurses. Any how, Through work, I have a chance to get a purebreed 3 month old healthy border collie for $130 au. I would really like to get this one, as we have legitimately waited out the one week of claim (as its a stray not a rescue). The $130 is for change over and registration through the local council. My partner wants a dog (says he does anyway) but he wants a pure breed staffordshire terrior which I am fine with, but he won't pay $800 - $1200 which is what they go for here. How can I convince him to let me get this dog that is need of home allthough I'm sure it wouldn't have trouble getting one once the council opens up to everyone as at the moment they are awaiting an answer from me! Any ideas

my 9 month old wont sleep in crib

Hi. I have a 9 month old little princess. We both live with Dad and his parents. They are a very catholic family and since we arent married he has to sleep in a separate room. My daughter and i share a room and when she was born, I kept hearing talk about SIDS. That is when she started sleeping with me instead of in her crib because i am a light sleeper and if anything happened i would know.
Well now my daughter is 9 months old and wont sleep in her crib. I cant lay her down and let her cry herself to sleep because she can go all day if she has to. We also cant get her to sleep and lay her in her crib because when we move her she wakes up.
Also...when me and her father would get into an argument we would lay her down in the crib and babies can feed off that energy. So i think that with the fact of us being frustrated when we lay her in her crib that may be another reason for not liking her crib.

I was told that since she likes to sleep in my bed (and i just box her in with pillows) that she should be ok in a toddler bed. She doesnt roll in my bed but i am not quite sure what to do.

What are signs of baby concussions?

What are the signs of a baby concussion? Can a baby get symptoms a couple of days after a fall? Our baby is about 16 days old. He fell asleep and hubby put him in his musical rocker but we were really silly not to strap him in as we didnt think he would roll. The rocker is about 10-15 cm off the ground. We have very thick shaggy carpet. I was only about 1 1/2 metres away from him having a rest in the recliner(so im in and out of sleep) and hubby was about 2 1/2 metres away at the computer. Suddenly i hear my daughter say "daddy baby fall" and i open my eyes and saw him on the ground, legs and arms tucked in face forward. I dont think baby realise he fell as he was kind of waking up and i quickly jump out of the recliner and picked him up before he could cry. He did make a sound when i picked him up as he seemed upset that he got woken up. I comforted him and checked him over. No visible signs of a bruise on his head or body. He seemed fine and alert. The rest of the day he just was sleepy and woke for a feed at normal times. The next night he seems irratated, but im not sure if it was because of what i ate. He just rarely slept and cried a bit. He is the same today, just wanted to be held and only slept for 1/2 hour after i fed him and was just awake most of the day seeming very irritated again. Dont know if it is just the weather as its also very hot here. He finally is sleeping longer than 30mins after i took some of his clothes off and he is just in a singlet and nappy. He seems happy now. But i cant tell if how he is now is because of the fall or that is just how he is and he is changing as that is what happens when newborns get older. They are very unpredictable on there behaviour still. Will still keep an eye on him on how he goes but just curious on what are signs i should be looking for if baby has a concussion.

A question about voting

If an advice is rated 3 stars with 1 vote, and I vote 4 stars, why is the advice rated 3.64? Is my vote "worth" more than whoever voted before me? I'm pretty sure the average of 3 and 4 is 3.5.... but it has been a very long day.

Foods that affect breastfeeding question again

Hi
Thanks for those that answered my previous question about foods that affect breastfeeding.
I was wondering now, how long does it take for certain foods to affect your breastmilk and then pass out of it? Doesit happen immediately once your eat something and do you have to wait at least so many minutes before it is passed onto baby?

My 5 year old daughter has asthma. What is side effect of using asthma preventer for long term?

My 5 year old daughter has asthma. I heard that using preventer for years might cause bone shrinkage. Is it true? She's been using preventer for more than a year now. Doctor suggested 2 puffs twice a day every day. But for the last few months I only give her one puff at night only.. because I heard the bone might shrink in the future due to long term use of the preventer. Is that true? How about ventolin inhaler or nebulizer? Is there any long term side effect too? I only give my daughter nebulizer if she really coughs a lot. Thanks for any help!

My three month old

My three month old E'va is sleeping very strangely and isnt eating properly.
She's sleeping lots but at ridiculous times which is making life rather hectic and a little stressful for me.
I dont think its teething cause she's not crying out in pain, unless she's eaten something and i cant get her to burp.
But i give her panadol when that happens and she settles fine but then just goes back to sleep. She's supposed to be drinking 180 mls but will only take half of it - if im really lucky.
Last feed she only took 30 ML !!
She seems rather happy when she's awake though and smiles and everything.. I dont think she has a temperature or anything either..
What on earth do i do? Has anyone had this before?

What to do with my 13yr old

My daughter has been lying and decieving me (read my blog for the last update as it's too long to write for Q) but basicially she has a friend who I believe is influencing this negative behaviour for own reasons. I have grounded for the rest of the yr and I have taken her electronics away until she earns back my trust. They will not be attending the same High schools next year. How do I get her see how her behaviour afeects everyone else. I was worried sick as I was not able to contact her yesterday and no idea when or if she was comming home or if something had happened to her. I can barely speak to her because I'm so angry and hurt by her actions. I had no idea of the things that were happening at the friends house there was no adult supervision and goodness knows what they were getting up to.
I don't know what to do.

Snake as pet

My 11 year old daughter has been begging me to get her a pet snake for Christmas. She loves reptiles and has been asking for one for quite some time. Does anyone have a pet snake, any advice would be appreciated. I have looked a few and the price is not too bad but it seems the complete set up to keep a reptile can get quite costly. I would love to know what sort of care they need and if they are a smelly animal to keep in the house, and if they are a good pet with toddlers in the house, any other information on keeping them as pets would also be greatly appreciated.

Chances of getting pregnant so soon...

Hi
Just wondering when do you start ovalating again and the chances of getting pregnant straight after having a baby? Im fully breastfeeding and only had baby 2 weeks ago. Im only bleeding lightly or barely at all now and my stitches have pretty much healed quickly, so hubby and i decided to do it. We have done it twice already with no protection. Though i have not had a chance yet to go get a prescription for the mini pill from the doctor, am planning to call today to see if he can write me a prescription so i can just go pick it up. But i just recently heard you are more fertile after birht and chances of getting pregnant again straigh away is high. Is that true? as i didnt know that...
