Does anyone know.....

If there is a book out there with a list of colours and preservatives and what foods they are in.

My son has many allergies including colours and preservatives and someone i was talking to on the weekend said there was a book that could fit into your handbag that had lists of colours and preservatives in it and what food they were in and if they were safe. To me this sounds like something that would make my life easy as it would able me to make split second judgement as to what my boy can eat.

If anyone could help me with this you would be a lifesaver.

Thanks in advance.

Mould Stains

Just wondering if anyone has some suggestions on how i can remove mould stains from a baby rocker i have. The rocker is in very good condition, only used when my daughter was a baby 4 years ago and has been kept on top of my mums wardrobe ever since, only just remembered i left it at my mums. There is nothing wrong with it except that it has a few black mould spots on it. I thought i'd just give it a wash and it should be fine but hubby doesnt want me to use it because of the mould stains and thinks baby will catch something from it. I really dont want to throw the rocker out which hubby said and go buy a new one as i think that is just a waste of money. If i can get rid of the stains, hubby would probably reconsider and use it. Anyone have any suggestions i can use? Thanks

Breast implants?

Now that I am weaning (inadvertently) my youngest from breastfeeding, I have been thinking about my breasts recently. Since losing a lot of weight and after breastfeeding 3 children, I have NO breasts at all now (just 2 very small saggy sacks of empty skin!..........attractive, NOT). I have always been taught to love my body the way it is and generally I do have a good body image. But I am just wondering what peoples thoughts are on post children breast surgery? I'm not looking to be Pamela Anderson by any means, I just want larger breasts than my ex! I dont plan on having any more kids as I have no-one to have them with (and I think 4 might just push me past the point of insanity any way LOL).

Updating sign up to the site ideas?

I'm just wondering if anyone else is sick and tired of people signing upto minti and trying to sell us stuff? I was just thinking maybe minti should have some rules when you sign up and make it clear about trying to sell products why'll people are signing up. I was also thinking that people that sign up have to put certain detals in so its more than just a user name and DOB to scammers are deterred from signing up. Have you got any other ideas you think would help?

Peeing in pants at school

I have a 9 year old that holds her urine in during day until her bladder can't hold it then she pees on herself wherever she is. Karate class, supermarket, car seat are some of the places she's chosen. She has been to doctors, specialist, therapist. They all say the same thing, this is not medical or emotional. She has never wet bed. How do I get her to use bathroom when in school or day care and how do I help her out of this behavior. I've tried taking everything away, earning things, grounding and none have helped. Her peers have been kind up until now and my fear is this will change soon.

What to do

Since having my son 17months ago, my periods are very irregular, sometimes coming early sometimes days late but they always come. My husband and I have been trying for our 2nd child since January and have had no luck. I have had ultrasounds on my ovaries and everything is ok. I have had blood tests they to were ok. My gynaecologist found nothing. She said just to keep trying because at least I was ovulating and having periods. It took only 4 months to fall pregnant with my son, I am not sure why its taking soo long this time around. Has this happened to anyone else and what should I do we are getting frustrated. I have tried using ovulation kits and saliva kits and have no luck. I also check my cervical fluid and dont know what else to do. I exercise daily either walking with my son or riding an indoor exercise bike I eat reasonably well dont drink or smoke. Have reasonable health. Please help.

my 9 month old wont sleep in crib

Hi. I have a 9 month old little princess. We both live with Dad and his parents. They are a very catholic family and since we arent married he has to sleep in a separate room. My daughter and i share a room and when she was born, I kept hearing talk about SIDS. That is when she started sleeping with me instead of in her crib because i am a light sleeper and if anything happened i would know.
Well now my daughter is 9 months old and wont sleep in her crib. I cant lay her down and let her cry herself to sleep because she can go all day if she has to. We also cant get her to sleep and lay her in her crib because when we move her she wakes up.
Also...when me and her father would get into an argument we would lay her down in the crib and babies can feed off that energy. So i think that with the fact of us being frustrated when we lay her in her crib that may be another reason for not liking her crib.

I was told that since she likes to sleep in my bed (and i just box her in with pillows) that she should be ok in a toddler bed. She doesnt roll in my bed but i am not quite sure what to do.

What are signs of baby concussions?

What are the signs of a baby concussion? Can a baby get symptoms a couple of days after a fall? Our baby is about 16 days old. He fell asleep and hubby put him in his musical rocker but we were really silly not to strap him in as we didnt think he would roll. The rocker is about 10-15 cm off the ground. We have very thick shaggy carpet. I was only about 1 1/2 metres away from him having a rest in the recliner(so im in and out of sleep) and hubby was about 2 1/2 metres away at the computer. Suddenly i hear my daughter say "daddy baby fall" and i open my eyes and saw him on the ground, legs and arms tucked in face forward. I dont think baby realise he fell as he was kind of waking up and i quickly jump out of the recliner and picked him up before he could cry. He did make a sound when i picked him up as he seemed upset that he got woken up. I comforted him and checked him over. No visible signs of a bruise on his head or body. He seemed fine and alert. The rest of the day he just was sleepy and woke for a feed at normal times. The next night he seems irratated, but im not sure if it was because of what i ate. He just rarely slept and cried a bit. He is the same today, just wanted to be held and only slept for 1/2 hour after i fed him and was just awake most of the day seeming very irritated again. Dont know if it is just the weather as its also very hot here. He finally is sleeping longer than 30mins after i took some of his clothes off and he is just in a singlet and nappy. He seems happy now. But i cant tell if how he is now is because of the fall or that is just how he is and he is changing as that is what happens when newborns get older. They are very unpredictable on there behaviour still. Will still keep an eye on him on how he goes but just curious on what are signs i should be looking for if baby has a concussion.

A question about voting

If an advice is rated 3 stars with 1 vote, and I vote 4 stars, why is the advice rated 3.64? Is my vote "worth" more than whoever voted before me? I'm pretty sure the average of 3 and 4 is 3.5.... but it has been a very long day.

xx. Charity
