Teaching to ride

Hi all!

Brandon and I bought Aaliyah her first bicycle for her 3rd Birthday last Thursday, and I am wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks on teaching her how to ride it? She knows how to climb on and off it, but it's figuring out how to pedal that really has her stumped. I usually push her around on it, using my hands on her feet to show her how to pedal - but wondering if anyone has any other tips, tricks or easier ways? Cheers

Pia.

Re: Teaching to ride

Hi,

I got my daughter to sit next to sit me on a chair and I showed her how my legs go up and down and asked her to copy me and she did & then I got on my bike and showed her how I did it & after a while she got it with a lot of encouragment. She was also 3 when she got her 1st bike.

Hope that helps and have fun watching her ride I still do even after 5 years.

Regards

Jodie

Re: Teaching to ride

With traing wheels attached explain how to push down on one pedal and then the other. It may also need your hand on their foot to help with the pushing and timing but let them do the pushing so they know they have to do the work to make it go.
