Pull ups

Hi All,

My son will be 2 next month and we have kinda started potty training.   We started by putting him on the potty b4 his bath and now he does wees in the potty and gets all excited about it.

This week I have but him on the potty after breakfast, then b4 nap time and when he gets up and also varies times during the afternoon and after dinner.  Each time he has done wees on the potty.  He knows that he has done the wees.

sometimes but not often he will say potty or just go into the potty and say wees so I put him on and each time he does wees.

What I am wondering is it too early to put him in pull ups during the day??? or am I just getting over excited and should wait another week or so and see how he goes.

Re: Pull ups

The pull ups are great, but they can be expensive.  We get the Aldi brand, which are half the price of the other brands out there but just as good quality and performance. Actually, they are better than the huggies brand because they don't come undone all the time.

I don't think there is any harm in getting some for him so he can get used to them and really start his potty training.

Re: Pull ups

yaya for henry!

we are starting toilet training here and i just use the washable training pants i think they are called dymples?

anyway we use those and they are a lil padded at the front for boys so that the floor is protected somewhat but he can well and truely feel when he has an accident!

he also has some lil cotton undie type things that i got from big W and hes only 17 months

well done for our boys!

Re: Pull ups

It was along time ago that I potty trained, but he sounds so good I would put him in undies they are so easy to wash and dry

Love Pauline

Re: Pull ups

Get excited sounds like your son is off to a flying start with toilet training.  I don't think it is to early to try him with  Pull Ups at all but I agree with Lui, some little undies would do the same trick and does not take much to wash them out if he has a accident.

Re: Pull ups

I agree with Lui, I never used pull ups with Aaron I'm not sure if they were around then (12 yrs ago) I did the putting him on the toilet at each nappy change and also offering it during the day he took a week to train and 2 weeks to be out of night nappies and he was just shy of 2 years old.

try the undies and see how he goes.

Hey Angie! Thats awesome good boy!... I found with C that she treated pullups the same as nappies she would wee in them like usual but if i had her in knickers she would say toilet or wee and use the toilet ...

Re: Pull ups

I dont think so... i put C in knickers from about 14 months i think?? Mainly to get alittle air not so much training till she was about 17 months... and also the cost of nappies was getting alittle crazy!!

Re: Pull ups

Pull ups are pretty expensive compared to nappies & they really are too much like nappies... Maybe use them for nap time during the day & trips to the shops when it might be hard to run to the toilets.  Be sure to make it clear that he can pull them up & down to go to the potty.

Buy 20 odd pairs of undies, they're cheap as chips & they are so little, they are easy to clean & change when they have an accident.  Let him pick the ones you buy so that he feels some pride & ownership; he'll be more likely to want to keep them clean.

Re: Pull ups

I agree totally...go the undies!!! Pull ups are great for when you are on the go and can't always get to the loo in time! Shopping, longish car trips, night time etc.... However as they feel like a nappy, they get treated like one. Also, they are not too bad to get down, but can be  tricky for them to get back on! The look on their face when they realise undies are NOT like nappies is priceless! It is great as they start realising when  they need to go for a wee quite quickly! ( That is if they are ready ...your son definitely sounds like he is at that point!) When I popped my daughter in undies at about 20 months, she would race outside on the lawn for a wee as we only had one loo and it was up 22 stairs...not good when you have to go NOW!!! Number two's took a bit longer, but had to insist they were done on the loo!! She refused point blank to ever use a potty!!!! Hence the lawn for wees until she could understand properly the sequence of full bladder, need to go and I need to say so sooner rather than later!!! When a poo was on its way I would grab her and race up the stairs to the loo. She LOVED her undies. She picked them out and thought she was SOOO grown up wearing them. I had to stop her showing them off to everyone!!!!
