Drying up after weaning

I have officially weaned chomper on to formula Karicare gold / Nutricia a week ago. I've reduced my fluid in take but I'm still leaking milk specially at night, is there anything else I can do aside from taking the pill or medication to help me dry up? Anything natural would be good.

Thanks Minti World

Cheers Raven

Re: Drying up after weaning

hi there

i was told when i was in hospital with my youngest that i could wear a band across my boobs & this restricts the milk ducts from producing anymore milk.

it is simular to a tummy butt band (sorry can't remember the name of either of them now) it was 3 & 1/2yrs ago i was told about this as both my kids failed to thrive on my milk so this is why i was told to use the band.

if you ask your local plunket nurse about this they may well know more about it.

Re: Drying up after weaning

Hi Raven,

Cabbage leaves are good for drying up, also reduce the burning feeling you can get with over fullness.  Just pop then in the fridge and them directly onto your breast in your bra if need be. Mint tea also has a drying up effect.

Good luck.

Thanks. I should've thought of the cabbage leaves! I used them when I had my eldest daughter, I over produced when I had her! I'll try the mint tea too! Thanks heaps.
