TEETHING!!!

Our 7 1/2 mth old son is Teething, his 2 bottom teeth have just both finally cut through. His top ones (Gums) have been swollen for a good 6weeks or so now. I'm just wondering, Do I put the teething gel on his top gums?(Will it help?) He's always pulling at his ears and whinging. He is also waking every 2 hours for a Breastfeed.. I'm guessing the waking every 2 hours is just for security as he doesn't have a Dummy..

Re: TEETHING!!!

Well I have some teething advice for you as my son was the worst teether I have ever met! BUT i don't think it's teething it sounds like an ear infection, he would be sucking to unblock his ears so thats why he would want to feed all the time...

Anyway on the off chance it's his teeth try sweet pickles, sounds strange but my son loved it and it was one of the only things that would calm him down.

You can get herbal teething remedy from naturapaths that i found worked a treat for very bad screaming sessions from teething.

apple wrapped in cheesecloth and tied at the end provides a wonderful yummy chewtoy that makes no mess and he cant choke on.

Wet facewashers helped with both my kids, pop it in the freezer and fold, it doesn't stay frozen long enough to hurt his hands and is a lovely cold distraction that cools down those poor sore gums.

You can use bonjella, i found it didn't help very much but your baby may react differently?

There are many many teething toys on the market that are lovely and a complet waste of money most of the time but you may find one that your baby actually likes. Don't bother freezing them it normally will make the child hysterical because it hurts to hold.

Good luck :)

Re: TEETHING!!!

Some little ones have a lot of trouble teething, if he is so unhappy and really tugging at his ears...I agree with Raven he may have a ear infection along with teething and a visit with your doctor might be wise.

Re: TEETHING!!!

Take him to the doctors and have his ears checked, he may have an ear infection. Tugging his ears is sign of an ear infection. My kids always tugged their ears when they had one.

Cheers Raven

Re: TEETHING!!!

my son was just as bad. be thankful yours doesnt bite, thats all i got from mine he would crawl up and bite my leg or foot. teething gel works wonders and so does baby panadol.  also try chilling some soft fruit like mandarins or apples (dont freeze) and sit with him and let him mess away.  go nto your local chemist and see wat other teething products they have.

Re: TEETHING!!!

If you look on your teething gel it usualy says how many time you can put it on in a day, I think most of them you can put on a lot so at least that may give him and you a little rest. To get the best out of it its usualy best to put it on 20min before feeding .

Even if it dosnt work at least you will know hehe. I dont know if you have any of thoes chew things you put in the fridge, being 7 1/2 months he should beable to hold them him self, that mite help to.

Hope that helps a little :)
