Help, Yet another toilet training question!

Hi fantastic Minti mummy's and Daddy's,

Josh is nearly 4 and has been toilet trained for almost a year in wee's. The problem is we cannot get him to do a poo in the toilet unless he has a pull up on. We have tried everything from offering rewards to taking his favourite toys away. We cannot get him to do it. He has never had a bad experience with the toilet because he will happily sit there and wee but he will only sit on the toilet to do a poo if he has a pull up on.
I need some ideas on where we can go from here because i'm lost now. I don't change him straight away when he does it because i want him to understand how uncomfortable it is and once i do change him i make him watch me empty it in the toilet so he sees it going down.
Please, please minti mums and dads i need some new ideas on where to go from here.

Thanks in advance
Juzzy

Re: Help, Yet another toilet training question!

I tried everything with my oldest son with the toilet training the treats/rewards, sticker charts etc. What worked for me was what I called the surprise box.  I just got a bright colorful box from the reject/2 dollar shop, and I filled it up with special and different lollies, and chocolates.  Things like those bug chocolates you can get, and gold coin little soccer balls, etc etc.  I just made sure that they were things that we never usuallu had so they were more special.  Everytime he used the toilet correctly he got to pick one from the surprise box.

I think it took about a week, and we were done.  Just an idea, it worked fro me.

Wish you the best.

Thank you for that great idea. I am going off to the shops tomorrow when the kids are in childcare and will be setting it up for when he gets home. I will let you know how we got on.

Cheers, Juzzy xoxoxoxo
