Many women are able to successfully tandem feed.  Your supply will keep up, if you plan to keep breastfeeding your 7 month old if you do have another baby, just one of the things our bodies are very good at - multi tasking! lol.

Before making any decisions, you need to confirm you are pregnant first.  no point jumping to conclusions without tests.

oh, and at about this stage with your 7 month old, you will notice they suddenly want more.  This is a rapid growth age, and you will feel more tired and sore than usual.

Re: Breastfeeding while Pregnant

I breastfed for a while when i was pregnant. I think it's ok for a few months into the pregnancy but you just have to make sure your diet is really good and getting a lot of nutrients, so that the baby your carrying is getting enoough, the one being breastfed is getting enough and of course you dont want to be depleting your own body of calcium and other nutrients.

So the one I breastfed was about 11 months when I fell pregnant and I kept feeding him till he was about 14 months. But I was only feeding morning and night.

Also consider that when you new baby comes the colostrum you produce is for that baby not the one you are already feeding, so if it was me I would wean well before the birth.

No not at all for me, but I have been very lucky. I have breastfed 6 children and have always had had more than enough milk. I know some people arent as fortunate as that.

But when i decided to wean him, he was 14 months old and was suckling all night till I was flat as a pancake, thats when I decided to wean him. But the pregancy didnt reduce my flow of milk at all.

I haven't done it myself, but i have friends who have.  They call it "tandem feeding", so no doubt if you look that up you can find some links, like this one.  I think just look after yourself - eat well and get plenty of rest and keep going as long as you feel it is working for you. Hope that helps!

Re: Breastfeeding while Pregnant

I got pregnant when my son was 6 months old.  He instantly went off my milk, and nothing I could do would make him take it again.  I tried to express, to keep up supply, but could only manage 20 ml at a time.  I gave up for my own sanity.

I believe it is possible to do, but it just wouldn't happen for me.  My advice is to get some professional advice on it, and if you aren't able to keep it up, don't be too hard on yourself.

Re: Breastfeeding while Pregnant

Hi,  I was still breastfeeding my daughter 4 months into my second pregnancy and contacted Australias Breastfeeding Association for advice on what is called 'tandum feeding' where you can feed your newborn as well as your other child. I would suggest you do this just or speak to your doctor or midwife to make sure you are eating enough good food and getting all the rest you can for what your body needs to produce for your growing baby and your 7 month old, as well as yourself . Good luck.
