When will my daughter start walking?
I have a 14 month old daughter, she only started crawling one day before her 1st birthday. She tries to pull herself up but only gets on her knees, and thats as far as she goes. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on when my little girl will start walking (first time mum)

Re: When will my daughter start walking?
I wouldn't worry too much, though I imagine I'd be impatient by now too ; ) Size has a lot to do with it, plus it depends on her nature and how much she wants to get about. If she is getting to everything she wants to play with by crawling, then she has no need to start walking. You could start doing some little excercises and playing games with her that encourage her to walk if you want to, she might need to build her confidence and strength in her legs.
From day one we kind of left things just a little out of reach for our wee man... He always had to reach out or wriggle to get things that he wanted. (His grandparents were always trying to pass things to thim LOL). The more able he became, the harder we made it... He didn't really crawl much, he wasn't a big fan of tummy time, he sort of rolled and wriggled. At about 8mths he finally started crawling around & climbing heaps. One day when he was 10mths old, I left my cereal bowl on the floor near him while I answered the phone. He just popped up and walked over to it... Once again, incentive got him moving. LOL! At 12mths he was running and throwing and catching balls and dribbling them soccer style. I think he just happens to be coordinated, he's been riding a 2 wheeler with no training wheels for months and can ride a motorbike.
Now my brother is very sporty and athletic and fit, I don't think he bothered walking until he was about 18mths old... So it doesn't really mean much does it?

Re: When will my daughter start walking?
All in her own time, will she walk if you are supporting her, holding her hands or under her arms?
my cousin had some problems with the enamil (sorry cant spell today) on the balls of his hips, he was taken to a physio and given a complete check over, once it was discoved he was missing the hard coating and was only resting on open nerves an exersice plan was developed for him, and now 20 somthing years on you would never know,
i also met a little girl over the weekend who is 17 months, she has only found her feet in the last 5 weeks, everything is completely normal and fine with her, she just decided to late a little longer, where as my first son was up and walking along the furniture at 18 weeks, walking solo at 8 1/2 months,
i wouldnt wish that on anyone, he's never stopped, and all his development is right where it's ment to be, at 19 months and with a brand new baby brother he's an angelic handful
