Natural sleep remedies

I have an 8 month old little girl and a three year old son who goes to childcare and will be starting kindy early next term. I really need to get up early in the mornings to have time to get the pair ready for the day problem is i'm 4 weeks not smoking now but also 4 weeks not sleeping. does anybody know of any natural sleep remedies? i refuse to take sleeping tablets but im tossing and turning all night and exhausted through the day. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Natural sleep remedies

have you tried Valerian tea or tables? my hubby brought home some the other day called Blackmores Tranqil Night, they work wonders for him, my naturapath also gave me some Mega B (high potency vit B) they help to relax you and also help with insomnia,

i hope you get some sleep soon, i completely understand how drained you must be feeling i didnt get more than about 2 hours a night for the last 10 or so weeks of my secong pregnancy, have gotten so much more sleep since he's arrived 10 days ago, lol

best of luck!

Re: Natural sleep remedies

If you have an ipod or mp3 player or something another way is to download sleep therapy/meditation tracks. I thought it was a bunch of hooey then tried it out and got the best night's sleep ever.

Re: Natural sleep remedies

I use a herbal tea, it's called "sleepy time tea" you can get it at woolies/safeway or coles.  I find it really good.  I have it half an hour before bed, and it really relaxes me, and I find it helps me get a good sleep.

Re: Natural sleep remedies

There are a number of simple things you could try - exercise every day, warm milk and a warm bath before bed, lavender oil in your bath or on your pillow, a regular routine before bed and something to unwind - like reading rather than tv.  The other thing I find helpful is a conscious relaxation technique to make  my whole body & mind relax before I go to sleep.  Email me if I need to clarify anything.
