birthday pressie

My niece is soon to be 13years old I was wondering on a good gift idea for her.
I thought of a gift voucher to a grown up girly clothes shop. (sportsgirl or Jetty surf)
What are your thoughts? Thanks

Re: birthday pressie

Even though she is turning 13, she is probably still going to like soft toys (I still do and I'm nearly 30-shhhh, I don't want to grow up!) so maybe a special one that is more adult like instead of babyish.  Cardiology always has a good supply, or there are plenty on ebay.

The other thing is, she is heading into puberty, and if she hasn't already started her periods, why not putting together a starters kit for her, with books that talk about puberty in a language a 13 year old will understand.  You can add some other stuff to it too, like teddy bears etc.  Practical yes, but she will be prepared for the journey ahead.

The other thing you can do is ask her what she wants.  Not specifics, but asking what she is into.  If she likes music, then why not a Sanity gift voucher?  And if you go with the voucher idea, also include a little keep sake, because teens want it all remember! LOL

Perhaps you could take her to a show or a concert and dinner. Tell her that since she is now officially a teenager you want to start treating her as one and not a child and this is your way of starting that.

Yes that is a great idea. My brothers got my son's surf shop vouchers, skate shop vouchers or EB Games vouchers because they know what the boys are into and they loved it so I am guessing she will too. Only thing is those shops are not cheap and anything under $50 means you can barely get one item!

I think any sort of gift voucher is ideal for any teenager. I guess at 13 they are really not into toys anymore and would want to buy clothes, cd's or dvds etc... Maybe something from a department store like Big W, Target etc... are good too as they have variety on what they can choose to buy
