Hello!  You have already gotten some great answers, I like the idea of starting social awareness a lot!  Maybe seeing he has so much and wants a laptop you could start him on the way to achieving that!  Have you thought of starting him a bank account for the purchase of a laptop? Starting kiddies understanding that money needs to be handled is a great gift.  An account with a bit of a money in it could help your son in the future.

have you ever thought about going to the geographic shop they have some interesting items maybe if it is in your budget you could get him a resonably priced beginners telescope.

Buy him an experience. Something he hasn't done yet or hasn't done for a while and enjoys. A day of lazer skirmish, paintball, dirt bike riding, horse riding, abseiling... there are a lot of experiences that he could have, enjoy, and remember for the rest of his life that do cost money but aren't totally budget exploding. And it saves the hassle of trying to find somewhere to store it! LMAO

Perhaps you could buy him a membership to his favourite sports team for the year 2010, that usually includes a newsletter & some team items etc. It means he will get to watch their home games for the following year.  You could also sponsor an animal for him at a Zoo or Sanctuary, once again he would normally receive some gear & newsletters in recognition... Or sponsor a child, you could pick one of the better known organisations overseas or see if you can sponsor the education of a child in need in your own country.  This would be giving him a great tool for life, the joy of the gift of giving.
