silly question?

this may be a silly question but my 10 month old is eating finger food now and always (as they all do ) gets it all in her hair. i don't have time to give her a bath after every meal so my question is : is there a easy way to clean her curly hair of mushy food without actually bathing her?

Re: silly question?

Experience with our girls would suggest that hair in food are apparently a combination that are irresistable!  How to stop food getting in the hair?  It isn't easy.  The hat or shower cap idea sounds good, but if your daughter doesn't like hats (mine never have), then it isn't going to work so well.

You don't have to bathe her if she does get it through her hair.  A detangling spray desingned for babies/young children and a fine toothed comb will help to get most of it out, and the detangling spray smells good too, so food smells will be covered.

Kids, what can we say, they certainly like to make extra work for us!

Hat, bandana, or from my grandmother's era... a bonnet. There are some things that have been disgarded due to fashion statements over the years are worth hanging onto for practicality sake. Flared jeans are not one of them. LOL

Re: silly question?

head band if she will put up with it, worked for my daughter, otherwise wet wipes and a comb should get it out enough not to look munted. my little girl is the same. damn those wheat-bix and morning curly hair! LOL!

Re: silly question?

Might want to consider a special "eating hat" for her to wear to protect her curls fro food entanglements....Simply have her wear the hat while she eats...the hat is washable and will protect those beautiful curls.

Re: silly question?

I had this with my daughter when she started eating finger foods. If your daughter's hair is long enough, try and tie it back so her hair is not on her face. You may have to tie it in sections if its not long enough to all tie back at once. Another suggestion which does sound a bit silly but works is get a shower cap if it fits around her head and she isnt bothered by it and cover her hair, it may look silly but it does stop her getting food into her hair...

Re: silly question?

Recent experience with little girls with a fair bit of hair, I made sure there was always a lot of hair ties around and tied up the front section at least so as they weren't touching there hair to get it out of there face while eating. Was always one girl that would always get it in her hair though and then just tried to flannel it as best I could but only ever gave them one bath at the end of the day. I know what you mean as even sandwiches she could get in her hair. You are one of the lucky ones who has a baby with a lot of hair. It does get better! LOL
