Re: MOUTH ULCERS :-(

PS

It may help if you find out the cause... Food allergy; contact-reaction to acidic or salty foods; unconcious mouth-chewing (while sleeping; stress reaction); accidental biting of mouth-lining while chewing (most likely over raised scar-tissue from previous sores)..... are a few that come to mind.

Have you mentioned it to a doctor or dentist? Most of us here are not professionals. But even if we were; we can't examine your lesions to be sure what exactly they are.

Any kind of sore or wound that does not heal after multiple treatments ought to be seen by a proffesional. As it could be a sign of something much more serious than its inconvenient first symptoms. I don't want to worry you unnecessarily, but my father died of cancer that started first inside his mouth. So please look into it; don't delay because of embarrassment!

Re: MOUTH ULCERS :-(

Try using bicarb soda toothpaste. Hubby gets mouth ulcers alot and he uses that to brush his teeth with. It helps keep it clean!

Re: MOUTH ULCERS :-(

You have been given some excellent advice.....I can only add using  "Oil of Cloves" put onto the ulcer  it's self and gaggle with warm salty water one of the best healers.

If they keep reoccurring might be wise to see your GP and find out the reason for this.

I hope you get some relief.

Re: MOUTH ULCERS :-(

Oil of cloves is great for relieving dental pain......However it doesn't speed up the healing process. I guess that it could be used in tandem with the peroxide......never tried it..

Re: MOUTH ULCERS :-(

Hydrogen Peroxide from the chemist......

Dab it on with a cotton bub, yes it will sting a little, but it seals and dries it up and after a while it will stop hurting...

Make a mouthwash with a little peroxide and swish it around in your mouth twice a day also......The mouth rinse should be 1 part peroxide to about 10 parts water...that means 1ml of peroxide to 10ml water

Re: MOUTH ULCERS :-(

Thanks heaps for the advice, I am trying it out today, i just dabbed some on after using a special mouthwash for minor mouth and gum infections and after dental surgery Colgate Peroxyl... They already feel a little better, so hopefully this will speed up the process of getting rid of them! I think i will also use the Mouthwash every day to maybe keep the little suckers away..... (I Hope!!!) It's very expensive though! Almost $12 for a 236ml bottle!

Re: MOUTH ULCERS :-(

If you only use the peroxide on a cotton bud, and stick to the mouthwash you are using,......that bottle of peroxide will last you many, many years...

The bottle of peroxide I have been using (at least 5 times a year) has lasted me about 9 years, and still is as effective today as it was when I bought it.....

Just store it, closed tightly in the dark of your bathroom cupboard...

Re: MOUTH ULCERS :-(

it sounds to me like you have a "canker sore" and my best advice is to  putt some ALUM powder on it, it tastes nasty but it works GREAT. you can find it usually in the spice section at the store.  good luck!

Re: MOUTH ULCERS :-(

Alum powder used to be the remedy used to treat mouth ulcers.

Does anyone realize that Alum (or Aluminum oxide)  works by drying out the ulcer.  Alum oxide is also in common deodorants. Aluminum oxide is also linked to a sharp rise in breast cancer, and the Aluminum travels into the lymph nodes through your armpits which have lymph nodes in them.

Fact.... most breast cancers are found in the left breast...any guesses why?

Most people are right handed, so the left underarm  usually receives more deodorant than the right. (Because there is more strength in your right hand, and you press harder with the roll on's or deodorant sticks).

Just a little bit of info for those interested..

This link to cancer is why Alum powder is hard to find these days.

Re: MOUTH ULCERS :-(

well i have to admit i am not that shocked to hear you cannot find any ALUM, it has been around for a VERY LONG TIME, i was told by my great grandmother that there were a few years when no-one could find it or you had to ask for it BEHIND THE COUNTER at the supermarket. i know i have seen it in stores with the spices.  i dont know much about alum other than it REALLY WORKS! my great great grandmother who lived to 105 and a half swore by it for canker sores.  i do however know that it is or was used when people where pickeling. i will do some searching to see if i can find out more information on how to find it, i am sorry that it is difficult for you to find, hopfully wither u find alum or not your mouth will be better soon.

ps. ALUM comes in a spice container(usually round) and it is white.   maybe a health food store would have it?
