Restless legs

Hi all
I was wondering if anyone had any remedies for restless legs? It keeps me awake and drives my hubby and I INSANE! My doc says the only thing he knows of is valium, and I'm NOT prepared to go to such drastic measures.
ANY advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Restless legs

Hi,

My doctor prescribed Repreve tablets 0.5mg .  I was told to take 1/2 a tablet at bedtime for 2 days then 1 tablet nightly for a week, then increase by 1 tablet nightly every week until symptoms are controlled.  She said in her experience this treatment had been very effective.  My symptoms are only in the evening when I sit in an armchair so I haven't tried this medication.  If you google 'repreve' all the info about the medication will come up.  I hope this helps you and you can both get a good nights sleep. :)

Re: Restless legs

Hi Shazz

This sounds great for you but did you have halusinations during the night or weird dreams I am saying this as the alternative here in aus is (Sfrol) which is apparantly cheaper (only $300 a script) but for parkinsons patients $5.00 on pbs

my hubby drialed Sifrol one night only he had the most disturbing dreams and still running to China he swore never again thats why we are going to have a scan thanks for your info I will ask the question on dr as well

Re: Restless legs

I posted this question about a month ago in this section I never recieved one answer so the only answer I can give you is take the Valium at night it is helping my hubby. They say that its Iron defficency (no) Magnesium (no) they have not foun out what it is yet that causes it or to help it. At this stage my hubby is going for a neorlogical sacn to see if its the nerves because everything else has failed to show. All I can say if you not prepared to take the pills then you will unfortunatly have to Go INSANE   not!!!!

Hope this helps in some way  cheers Vicki

Re: Restless legs

Thanks Vicki. I didnt do a search before I posted my question - I never thought anyone else would have the problem! Mine started when i got pregnant (and he's now 11), and get alot worse when its hot. The last few nights have been terrible, and my couch really isnt that comfortable to sleep on! My doc has taken bloods and all is well on that score. Am hoping there might be an old wives tale or 2 that might do the trick. Some of those old remedies do a great job!
