Re: child abuse report

Reporting child abuse is important to the child being abused. Often children can not report what is happening to them, it is up to the adults to see and report it, no matter what. Children deserve the right to live in a manner that does not demean, or cause them physical or mental harm.

It's also the law. You are required by law to report any abuse or evidence of abuse or suspected abuse to the authorities. Particularly if you work in certian professions where it is mandatory to do so.

Protecting our future generation should be our primary goal in society.

Re: child abuse report

I am sorry this happened to you, but as a child abuse survivor I would rather the CPS come and check it out and be safe rather then sorry.

I was 14 after 10 years of abuse.  My sister finally was old enough and escaped the house while my dad had me cornered in attempts to kill me.  If I didn't have a little sister I would have been dead.  I am sure people noticed but thought it wasn't their business.

In these cases it's hard to figure out whether the person who reported you is acting out maliciously or whether they had perceived something in good faith and found you to be acting suspiciously. All cases need to be investigated whether true or false to rule out child abuse. Be upset at the people making up stories, not the people who are just doing their job and trying to make a world a safer place for kids. If you have nothing to hide then surely you can understand this point of view?

Re: child abuse report

I'm sorry that happen to you. In my experience, they came (DOC'S) and then proceeded to ignore what was going on rather than save me.

If you haven't done anything then you have nothing hide. It is better to have all cases investigated then allow one child to suffer another day.

Some ppl are plain nasty and all you can do is forgive them and move on. At least if this person complains again, they will put them in their place and tell them to stop wasting their time.

In my case, they had numerous complaints from ppl, teachers and others who saw and reported it. It's a shame the didn't follow thru, it would have saved me alot of pain.
