Books for the womb

I think I need some help: I live in Costa Rica, and our native tongue is spanish; however, I really want my little girl to speak english too. So I thought I'd just start reading to her now, before she's born, both in english and in spanish. The spanish books are not going to be hard to find, however, the ones in english I'm gonna have to get through ebay or amazon, and I wanted to know which ones you guys think would be good. I was thinking maybe Dr. Seuss, but he wrote 44 books! so I have no idea which ones to start with. Also "Oh, baby, the places you'll go!". And maybe books by other authors, only I have no idea which ones. Could you help me out?

My son likes the Nick Jr books.  They are of his favorite cartoons.

Fox in Socks is great. Do You Know How Much I Love You is also a wonderful book. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Goodnight Moon, The Wheels on the Bus, Rainbow Fish, If You Give a Moose a Muffin, Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears. There is also a wonderful series from France that I can't quite remember the name of about two little dogs. Anything by Disney, Richard Scary and the Little Golden Books are good too. Sesame Street has some songs on CD too.

Any suggestions for children's books in Spanish? I'm trying to learn Spanish and thought that might be a good place to improve.

Sooo English!
My daughter Amy loves the Mr Men & Little Miss books also Winnie the pooh and most of all Poppy cat, I think its great that you are teaching your child a second language I wish I was able to speak another language other than english.

Dr. Seuss

I think any Dr. Seuss is a good idea. They have a lot of rhymes and is good for baby because he/she can easily get used to them and will recognize a lot of the phonics.

I think it's great of you to do this. Do you speak English in your home now? If so, let your baby hear you speak English (both in the womb and after he/she is born). Kids have a "window" in which they can learn any language easily. I myself am bilingual and I think it's the greatest thing. I just wished my son could be one too, but alas, I have no one to speak my native tongue with at home. I have books in my language that I read to him, but I don't think it's enough.
