I am toilet training Amy, we have a potty and a training seat for the toilet but i want to make it fun so does anyone have any good ideas for a reward chart or where to download or buy one?
Years ago, as a social worker, I suggested the following to a frustrated mother.
THE PREPARATION:
I told her to get a piece of orange construction paper. It would become the chart on the bathroom wall.
Then I told her to cut out yellow and brown sunshines and put them in an envelope and tape it next to the chart.
Finally, I told her to roll pieces of scotch tape and stick them to the wall too.
THE PROCESS:
After her son used the toilet, he was to come and get her. Together they would sing "You Are My Sunshine." Then the mother would give him the correct color sunshine and rolled tape to attach to the orange chart.
It worked like a charm and the mother had many good laughs as she told me how it worked with her boy.
Go to charmin.com you know the tolit paper they have a free chart, book, stickers, picture frame when they do it, and a chart to help out on how much tolet paper to use and it is all free I used it with both my kids 5 and 3 and they both use the tolet no more dipers and they never wet the bed at night its a life saver.
I like to keep it simple and give instant rewards. I keep a bag of mini-marshmallows on a shelf in the bathroom and reward kiddos with a marshmallow for potty success. At first I reward for just sitting. Then once they've had some success I switch to rewarding for actually going.
I got a potty training kit for free from Charmin towlet paper. I got it as an e-mail, but I think you can just go on the websit. I also made a decorated paper for him to put his stickers on because people have told me you should put the stickers on there potty, but I did put one on it the first time he got one and when I went to wash the potty the sticker cam off. The charmin kit somes with a poster, book, stickers, and a thing that teaches them not to waste towlet paper. it is actually really cute. Hope you have fun witht he potty training and what ever you do works.
Here in Canada some of the companies that make baby products such as Proctor and Gamble have websites that you can go on and order potty training kits for free. I got one for each of my kids and one is on the way for my youngest right now. The kit I ordered has a chart with stickers, a book and a certificate for when they do start going regularily on the potty. The kit also helps you teach them about washing their hands too. I'm not sure if you have anything like that in the UK but is worth a try.
If you like drawing, you may draw the chart together with your daughter. Something fun to do together. As a reward on the chart your can use stamps or stickers. Or, I think ou do like beads, maybe you can use each bead(or 2-3 beads/day) as a daily reward and at the end of the week your daughter could get the bracelet or necklace as the reward.
Otherwise, there is a place you can buy online. http://www.stuckonyou.biz
