trying too hard
I know that its so exciting to have another child, but trying so hard to get pregnant maybe whats stopping it from happening. my friend tried for 7 years to get pregnant, then one day i said are you making true love to your husband or are you having baby making sex they are too different things,if you ask me.just take a night to pamper and treat yourself, get some wine play soft music and make true love to your husband or partner.dont think about babies ,or how long will this take or anything else. this has worked for three of my friends .they had varying amounts of time that they had tried, from 1 year to 7 years. now they have beautiful babies. pray if all else fails.hope you get what you want soon .

stop stressing
Hi   Like you my first child was conceived within 3 months of  going off the pill, and also like you my second child took quiet a bit longer. 8 months to be exact, so my advise to you is stop stressing, enjoy being intimate with your partner and let things happen.  I'm sure everything happens for a reason and your second child will be born just when he / she is ment to be

I'm with Izzy

spot on Izzy.  I have had several friends use the ovulation/temperature kits.

but in regards with my own experience, I monitered my cycle for 5 months and new exactly then my avg cycle length, which happened to be spot on 28days.  the next month we conceived after the first try.

A check up to make sure everything is in order to ease you mind may be a good move too.

me too

I actually monitored my cycle for 4 months, while on other forms of contraception (I was waiting for the pills to clear my system before trying to get pregnant) and then went for it the 5th month. I took my temp. every day and monitored cervical mucous. The 4 months gave me a good enough idea of my body to tell when I ovulated. On the 5th month when my husband and I were ready, we got pregnant.

ovulation calculator
many sites (including march of dimes http://www.marchofdimes.com/pnhec/1808_1904.asp) have an ovulation calculator if you keep track of your monthlies. Also some good advice. Good luck!

eat well and exercise
i'v alway's been very active and eat well, lots of greenery and fruit and i alway's fall pregnant first time every time, my cousin, and sister in law had the same dificulty as yourself second time round. my cousin told me it wasn't till she started takeing up running that she fell pregnant, and with my sister in law it was 18 months before she fell pregnant again, so she changed her diet and stopped worrying about getting pregnant so much then she fell pregnant just a few weeks ago

Tea
I read in a magazine once that women should drink black tea.  It helps produce more eggs I think.  I cant really remember why but I remeber black tea. LOL  Try it, it doesn't hurt.

Have lots of sex
Easy - have sex once a day (except for when you are menstruating), and chances are you'll succeed.  No need to worry about when is the best time etc.  That ensures you have a continuous supply of sperm in your body, ready for when your egg is released!

Fertility

Women ovulate about 14 days after the first day of menstruation. That said, some women have irregular periods, so using this "counting" method is not that reliable. A woman's cycle may be 28 days one month, and then 30 the next, and then 33 days the next. When it's this unpredictable, you will have a hard time "counting".

I suggest trying an ovulation kit. This will tell you when your wife is ovulating. If this doesn't work, I suggest doing the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM). This is a method by which the woman takes her temperature every morning before getting out of bed, noting her cervical mucus and position of cervix. These 3 will tell a woman when she's ovulating. It will also tell whether a woman is ovulating or not. Women who has been on pills sometimes takes time to get her normal cycle again (from 1 month to a year).  If you are interested in the I suggest looking into the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. There is also a website http://www.ovusoft.com
