Starting solids but prefers to feed self...

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has some suggestions for finger foods for a baby who's basically just started solids. We've tried all the cereals and first fruits and veggies with no allergic reation however, she's not keen on purees. She just loves the cookies and I gave her a cracker yesterday she loved but I worry about her choking once they get down to almost nothing and I can't get over the fact of lack of nutrition in them. Am I being overly worried or what? By the way she's just going on 8 months. Should I even bother with the "stage 2" jarred stuff or not?

finger foods and nutrition
First, your baby should be getting virtually all their nutrients from either breastmilk or formula, so a few empty calories while learning to self feed shouldnt be too harmful.

If it were me, I would try the stage 2 level jarred food because she might enjoy self feeding that. Yes, it will be messy.....but that's what baths are for.

Other than that, you can try banana in small ammounts or any other fruits that she can mash with her gums and you can cut into small enough non-chokable pieces.
