bored mother

I have a 15 month old son and don't want to go back to work.  Just wondering if anyone out there has ever tried the whole "direct selling at home party" thing. (example, Avon, Tupperware).

Re: bored mother

I work from home by answering phone calls for a company. The problem is that I have a 4 month old who wants to give his input as well. I've been searching online and found this free listing that I'd like to share. I found a short tern job proofreading. Click here for the

Free Work at Home Listing. Do you know of any other possibilities. I was thinking about Avon.  I talked to our local rep this morning.  I'm still deciding.

Where I live NT of Australia, it's a reasonably small place and it seems that every second week you are being invited to another party.

This last week I've been invited to : Tupperware, Lereve (perfume), Wikidz (kids clothing birth to sz6), Undercover Ware ( clothing & underware), and a new candle party plan group.

While I like getting out and about and making friends, I sometimes resent that I can't just see someone for the sake of seeing them.

But what ever you decide make sure you really enjoy it & that there isn't too many people in your neighbourhood doing the same thing

I used to do it myself, a few times i took it up and gave it in. My reasons were that i found it difficult to juggle the little things in addition to starting to do it ,which is fun and exciting. But when say Mrs burke down the road wants to get her order or see the lipstick chart (avon) then you have to take the baby out and get him ready and see customers at times when he should be feeding and in the middle of putting baby to sleep when the phone rings and you are asked to take catalogues out. these are the hurdles i came across. With Avon i mean and really the same hurdles could occur with tupperware or lingerie sales lady too.But some women can do it with no hassles,my avon lady is a young mum with a son and she copes really fine.I guess its also better if you drive a car as i dont it was more difficult for me.

I am doing the home party thing right now in addition to my full time teaching job.  I am with a company called Once Upon A Family- www.onceuponafamily.com/jrpettibone .  My hope is that within the next year I will be able to either 1) make enough money to pay for my Masters or 2) make enough money to be able to job share- work a half day and make the full time job a part time with the party thing.

You really have to love what you are going to sell.  I never thought I would be selling anything!  I chose a company that is starting out and there are very few consultants in the United States.  Think about your passion.  Think about what you love.

I love my family.  Once Upon A Family is about helping families learn how to develop traditions so that they can build stronger family bonds.  Every product comes with a tradition idea .

If you are going to sell something, make sure it is something you love to do!

Hope that helps!

Thanks!

Hi, I haven't BUT, I know a lot of people who have had them and people just don't seem to be going to the parties as much these days, here anyway and so they are now doing Tupperware Catalogue Parties.  They drop brochures off to all their mates and then take the orders and send it off.  A lot easier, don't have to clean your house haha.  Another friend did it with a chocolate making kit mob as well, so I'm thinking a lot of them probably do do it this way these days.
