Help with cleaning teeth!

My 2 year old daughter loves to brush her own teeth but of course this usually involves just eating the ttothpaste and chewing the brush. When I try to clean them properly she clams her mouth shut, I have tried giving her my toothbrush so she can clean mine while I do hers this hasn't worked, I also tried explaining why so has to have her teeth cleaned but all I get is "NO!". If anyone has any  ideas to help please all advice is gratefully excepted. I really worry about her ended up with bad teeth!

my son was the same way before. I would let him do his thing and then when he was done i would tell him that I was gonna brush his teeth and then he would get a sticker.  After that the I bought him a tooth brush that rotates and it has spiderman which he likes.  So now he brushes his teeth and he watches me do it so he is sterting to get it right.

At 2 I would not be too worried. You child will probbly like to mimick you as others have said.
You could let her brush in the morning and you help her at night.
I added Cleaning Teeth to my childrens reward (chore) list so they would get a tick every time they brushed their teeth. When they get enough ticks they get a reward.

I can only suggest 2 things that worked for me (I mean for my son...):

1) I bought him an electric tooth brush for kids. That got him into it because it's fun!

2) I always brush ny teeth with him and while doing it, I compliment myself "mommy is brushing her theeth really good! mommy is a very good girl! well done mommy!" etc. That usually makes my son to brush his and immediately he asks if he's a good boy too...

Good luck!

Help with cleaning teeth!

After trying so hard to get my sons teeth clean, I have found that if I prop him up infront of the mirror at the same time as I brush my teeth he will copy me.  Not just chew the brush but actually moves the brush around, and even rince his tooth brush....  I find that if I give big smiles in the mirror so my teeth are showing and brush he will attempt to do the same and at times gets the job done pretty well.. SOme times I still worry, but i have a heck of a time trying to get anywhere near him with a tooth brush.. And I find this works the best way for me....

My daughter does the same thing too, so  what we do is use 2 toothbrushes.  She holds on to one and does the pretend brush while we have the other one and do the real brushing.  She still chews on the toothbrush, but we are at least able to get in there and brush for her.  And then she'll ask to trade toothbrushes.

I agree with Tinker. Let her do her thing, and she will get it right, in time. My son did the exact same thing, and he has perfectly good teeth today. The sing-song is a wonderful idea, too!

I think it should be ok with her doing it by herself.  It's better than her not brushing her teeth at all.  So I wouldn't worry, it will come when she will do it right. Try singing a song about it and say open wide, brush those back teeth and give them a tickle. Or this is how we brush our teeth, open wide, brush the fronts , brush the backs, etc    Well atleast that's how I did it. Hope it helps.
