Sugar Sensitivity

Has anyone ever identified their child a "sugar sensitive"? I know we all react to sugar intake (or lack of) differently and kids are usually more sensitive but I've been wondering if my daughter isn't more sensitive than most.

I read a review about a book called "Little Sugar Addicts" and wonder if what she writes about in the book has any connection to my child. The profile sure fits! I'm going to get a copy and read more but I wanted to ask the Minti community for insights in the matter.

Does anyone have any thoughts or comments or answers for me?

Sugar Sensitivity
I read this book review and I think I might read it too. I noticed my daughter started craving sweets all the time. She would want a mint on the way to school, and ask for lollies before after and during dinner. She would be thinking about dessert before she had her first mouthful of dinner. I didn't really connect it to a sensitivity but it kind of fits. For other health reasons  I had to change her diet.  All sugar was ommitted except fruit. It was really tough for her for a couple of months. I would catch her sneaking lollies and even dipping her finger in the sugar bowl. It has been almost a year and she now has alot more fruit and refuses the offer of a lolly now. Rarely does she ask for a lolly or sweet and if she craves something sweet she will look in the fruit bowl for something. Her behaviour is not nearly as irratic and she is able to focus on her school work for longer periods. She has never been over weight, quite the opposite actually. It is my belief that children who gorge mainly on sweets are thinner and smaller than they should be, where as children who gorge on high fat foods, such as chips, suffer from being over weight. You have really got me thinking. I hope this shed's some light on the topic.

Sugar Sensitivity

My son and myself are sugar sensitive.

I changed our diet, no artificial sugars and kept down the natural sugars. No more processed foods or low fat foods as they add sugar in the processing. We basically eat fresh foods only. Its more expensive but hey, it better for u.
