I was wanting to know if it's ok to take my baby to the beach, he is7 months old and likes the water. We take him to the swimming pool every saturday and he enjoys it. My concern is regarding water pollution and as babies immune system isn't fully developed i was worried about bacteria in sea water. Does anyone have any idea how safe it is?
Depends on the beach. We took our son to the beach for the first time at 5 months but Our beach is ok we are in the country so there isn't much pollution in the water. He loved it. I would check with the local council or water authority to find out about the pollution levels of your beach.
i took my son to the beach at a very young age, i say yes, but make sure you take the precautions of glass and other things lying in the sand (yucky stuff) put some swimming shoes on baby, stay in the shade, slip-slop-slap, and use a pvc sided picnic mat to lie on, the only prob with my area is personally, i dont like Altona beach (kinda smelly) so if you are around here in melb, take bubs to williamstown, it is by far alot cleaner.
i have a seven month old daughter, we live on the beach she was in the water at 4 months, she practically lives for the beach!!! loves it, go ahead he will have a ball.
If we worry so much about pollutants, our babies would go nowhere and do nothing. Go ahead, take him to the beach - he will love it! He will love the sand (he'll probably try to eat it) and the water. Have a bottle of clean water with you just in case he gets sand in his eyes, make sure he is well protected against the sun, and have fun!
Helloo there, I don't know where you are,I am in north QLD,when Breanna was a bub we were up in the gulf of carpentaria. There was no polution, but when the coral spawns we kept her out of the water,as the spawn seems to infect any scratches.I really feel strongly that unpolluted sea water is wonderful for littlies.Just watch that the salt water doesn't sting babies eyes and use heaps of sunscreen.Have lots of fun regards Merle
