For the older ones- I'd suggest a gift voucher or even just some money. That way they actually can take advantage of those after christmas sales!

For the younger ones - try and get an idea of what they are 'in to' so you can get something to match their interest. My youngest loves pirates and castles/knights and the older one is into animals (esp tigers at the moment) and sport.
If you have no idea for what to get them- in my experience the younger ones appreciate money too

Go to my shopping pages and browse and compare prices. This is where I have done most of my Christmas shopping. If you want bargains I suggest Deals direct, OO (overstock outlet) and Uxcel which imports stuff direct from Hong Kong without WH charges and so on.
I bought 2 telescopes for $99 each that normally sell for $279 each and looking at walkie talkies that were $69 now $39. There is heaps of stuff there that is great for people who cannot get to town or don't have the time and it is great just to give you an idea of what to buy.

Happy shopping

CD's are always great for the 18 yr old and most stores will exchange them if the kids alresdy have it. Girls always love makeup and jewlery and most kids boys or girls like board games and it gives them something to play on the day.

Its a dilemma faced by most and  I think  its sadly a reflection of societies view of Christmas. Christmas is about family and giving but not giving to the point of excess and a year long credit card bill (I'm telling myself this as much as anyone else) so here's my advice, under 10's a chocolate stocking about $5 and a small gift plenty available from $2 shops etc, they like lots and teens are harder so vouchers are great but limit what you are spending to only what you can afford, they'll scrounge up the rest for what they want. Older than teens gag gifts are always fun and not to expensive. Gifts can be cheaply made as well, coffee cups from $2 shops filled with mixed lollies and tied in cellophane wrapping, jars of home made biscuits. Remember to include some love and all will go well.

Hi! I'm doing a series of posts about great educational toys on my blog, The Lilting House. The series is called "best gifts for homeschoolers" but of course the ideas I'm sharing would be great gifts for any kid, no matter where they go to school!

Hey there angelv,

We found that teens are pretty fussy , sometimes a gift voucher works as you set the amount and they choose what they would like. Usually for us anyway, the teens headed for the music store.

For the boys under 10, sports equipment,  dvd's , t.v games, computer games, remote control items, merchandise from their favourite movies etc

18+ depending on their needs and interests.

grandson, trucks cars and bikes ..... little big ones

Just a few ideas, hope it helps with the decisions.

Have fun shopping.

Most teens like gift cards from their favorite stores. Then they can take advantage of those after Christmas sales!

Gift certificates to a movie theater are also a favorite--or to a video store.

Also, magazine supscriptions are fun gifts that literally last all year.

If any of the kids are siblings, you could do a group gift like a board game--Cranium, Outburst, Balderdash, or even a classic like Scrabble.

I know how you feel haha it is a horror of a time. Here is what we do now though, we only buy for the kids most the time for the little ones the discount stores have heaps of bargains. As for the older kids once they hit 15yrs we ask them if there is something they would like or would they like some money to get something they have in mind. It works like a charm because most of the time they have something special in mind that we can buy or lay-buy.

Good luck Best Wishes Blond.
