i was just making a point about  voting and that i would look at the advice with the most stars first but it seems that that is not the best way to work your way thrue this wonderful resource.  no sarcasm intended i do think this place is gr8

Ok this is where emails and forums/boards can be ambiguous...   I thought that daz123 was making a point.....or possibly having a little fun. We vote here on presentation as well as content. I took this post as someone making a point that when friends give advice we don't worry about the sentence structure but rather concentrate on the advice given. There has been talk about how people vote on minti and how people look at the structure and so on....   Ok Daz123 now you are going to need to confirm what your message is about....:):) I also need to know if I have to apologise for taking this lightly and having a little fun with my first reply to you....if I was wrong and have offended....sorry.....

Hmmmm I am a little confused, are you wanting their advice? If you are concentrating on their sentence structure it would seem not.Or it is not good advice and your bored.......If they are genuinely trying to help, be gratefull and well mannered and at least pretend you are taking notice. If they are just being overbearing pick away in for penny in for a pound I always say.Regards Merle

Are you referring to voting on Minti advice and entries where some people have recently given their personal philosophy on voting?
If so
I guess I tend to try to vote on content primarily. If the article is hard to read with bold or all caps or littered with spelling errors I try not to let that influence my vote too much with a new member but if the author has been on the site for a while I will reduce my mark. Part of giving advice is being helpful and making it hard to read is not helpful.
Often if the mark I would give will bring down their average mark I do not vote at all. Occasionally if the article has a mark much lower than I think it deserves I will vote higher than I think it deserves to try to bring up the average mark.
If I consider advice to be potentially dangerous then I will vote it right down. I do the same if someone recycles their own advice or publishes very similar advice to what has been published that week with no significant new content.

listen by all means, politely acknowledge the advice, file it away for future reference if its relevant or bin it! then change the subject, and if they are someone who does offer too much advice try really hard not to complain or hint that there is something they need to give you advice on.

they no doubt mean well and sometimes might be onto something, but some people have a way of making you feel useless and like you are doing everything completely wrong!

have you tried giving them some advice back? or making a joke of what they tell you? seriously but you know whats best for you and yours, follow your instincts and use what you hear where it fits your routine.
