I have a psychology degree and I just want to say you need to move your baby when it feels right for you and not because other people are telling you what to do. There has been a lot of research to show that it doesn't make a difference where a baby sleeps as long as they feel safe, comfortable and secure and you as a parent feels comfortable with the decision. When you do move your child to a bed please consider a saftey rail attatched to the side to keep your little one from falling. I moved my children when they were one as they and I felt ready.

I really think its a personal choice but I also think that there is a trend out there to make our babes grow up too fast.

I didn't move any of mine into BIG beds until they were 3. By this stage they really understood what a big step it was and there were so very excited and I also quickly found out that BIG bed means they want out of Night NAPPIES quicker and tend to adjust more easily.

Most of my friends all did the bed change from between 15 months and 2 yrs and all of them had trouble with bed wetting etc. I'm not ssaying that this will happen its just something i have noticed.

BUT your babe is getting too long so you don't really have the choice. I would recommend that you tranfer as much as you can from the cot and get some side rails to help make him feel more secure....

I moved Jacob to a big bed when he was 2 1/2, but put his cot matress under the bed and pulled it out after he fell asleep so if he fell he had something to break his fall. Luckily he never needed it.

my daughter is 2.5 and I am delaying it as long as possible lol.

There is no set age in anything children do. If you think he is ready for the bed, go for it. Especially if he is too long for his cot.

Hi, my boys both moved into a normal bed at 12 months. We just put a bed guard up, which was probably removed within 6 months.  They both slept alot better, but all kids are different.  Follow your gut.
