Inflammed sting on hand (knuckle)

My little man was stung by something two days ago and I am getting a little concerned. When he was stung, he cried out and then was fine the rest of the day and I thought it may have been a march fly or large mosquito, as it was a big red raised bump with a small puncture mark in the middle. Today, I am thinking it was a house spider or huntsman, as it's become swollen, his cheeks have flared up and looks allergic. I have given him an antihistemine. Would like feedback on experiences? I am taking him to doctor tomorrow. Thanks.

Thanks all, it has all really helped. The outcome from the doctor was good, thank goodness. The antihestimines helped as well. She mentioned to watch for possible signs of any infection and I have a script incase that happens. She also told me to look out of signs of it growing, at the moment the size of the area has not expanded and it's has been three days now. I think he may have been bitten once on his knuckle and once on his other ring finger at the same time, but we didn't notice it the second bite until day 2. The knuckle bite is the size of a 10 cent coin and the other one on the ring finger is the size of the old one cent coins. It seems to have stabilised today - fingers crossed. Thanks for all the wonderful reassurance, it was very much appreciated and needed. I have also learnt from reading here of more helpful info, if it gets serious or was more serious.

You're doing the right thing. Get him to a doctor asap especially now that the reaction is not localised anymore.  Good luck, kiss poor baby for me...

Roll On Deodorant
It may have been a white tip spider.  Any bite you get, put roll on deodorant on it as this draws out some of the venom.  I was bitten by a white tip spider, and to start with it looked like a bee sting, but by the next day it grew to the size of a 50 cent coin and by the third it had taken up the whole underneath of my arm up to the elbow.  As we had put roll on deod on it, it actually saved my arm.  The dr advised that if I had not done this, the flesh would have started being eaten away.  I was put on antihistamines as well, but every year, the mark where the bite was, comes back on christmas day, the day that I was bitten 3 years ago.  Freaky huh!!  Please advise us as to what the out come was.

i thinks you should take him to see a doctor right away, it doesn't sound like a mosie bite, my daughter is allergic to mosies she gets big red welts whenever she gets bitten, however she has never gotten flared up cheeks from them. He might be different, but it is better to be safe then sorry, best thing i can advise is to get him in to see a doctor as soon as possible

I wouldn't wait til tomorrow for the doctor, go now. If he is swelling, it could get worse and infection spread. You don't want to endanger him. If it was me with one of my kids, I'd be going to the hospital.

This can be scary,we lived in the middle of no where with all kinds of nasties.Try these,a bi-carb paste painted on and left there.raw onion is good rubbed on the spot.Lavender essance is brilliant as is plain old metho or vinegar.ice can also work.So can tea tree oil.You could try a little honey and oatmeal mixed, apply a small ammount and put on a plaster.I could go on and on but these help a broad spectrum of bites and stings.regards Merle
