How long can a miscarriage stay in your system???

Hi everyone.  I was sent to the ER last night after a tissue came out when I was going to the bathroom.  I am also on my period, and I do have endometriosis.

The situation is this.  I haven't had sex in four years.  They think that the tissue could be a miscarriage, but I don't see how that is possible.  I've dated since then of course, but no sex.  I mean can that still be in your system after four years?

And of course no one believes me, because I was also on birth control.  But that was for other reasons.  I also had a boyfriend, but even he can tell you that we haven't had sex.  (He'd be a much happier man if we did I'm sure.)  It's just that I don't get it.

The doctors don't know what the tissue is, and you would think that if it was a miscarriage that they would recognize it.  But they had to send the tissue to the Pathology Lab though to find out for sure for they did give me a few other options as to what it could be.

I feel much better today.  It wasn't painful or anything like that.  I do have a head cold, but that's normal since my whole family was sick for the holidays.  I'm just making myself sick I guess trying to figure out what the tissue was.  I guess to describe it I would say it was about an inch long, it was gray more than anything else, and you could bend it like Play Dough.

And the thing is too that my mom was there, and she's had six kids.  You would think that she would recognize it, but she had no clue herself.  She said that she hadn't seen anything like that.  She used to work in the hospital, so I'm surprised to hear that.

But from what I've told all of you, could it be a miscarriage?  That just doesn't make any sense to me.  Thanks to all in advance.  I don't have my follow up until Tuesday, so I'll be checking back here to find out what you all have to say about it.  Thanks again!

How long can a miscarriage stay in your system???
Wow! I didn’t think that I would get that many replies by Tuesday! Well, I talked to a friend of mine that had a miscarriage and a relative that has endometriosis, and she thinks that what it is… is non-cancerous soft tissue, but she can’t remember the full terms for it all. She doesn’t think that it’s a miscarriage, and she agreed with you all and said that there was no way it could be in my system that long without anything happening in between time. (I guess she meant by having infections or something like that?) But it helps that she’s a Psychologist too, so she’s really been helping me emotionally. But yeah she thinks it’s tissue too from endometriosis, and she says it’s very common with those that have endometriosis. But of course though, the doctors would assume otherwise, because I am on birth control, and I was seeing someone. Oh and she said that the doctors will want to see me again to make sure that all of the tissue is out of my system, so nothing gets infected by it. (I’m not sure what she means though.) But she says it’s a fairly easy process, so I’m not worried at all. I’ll let you guys know!  And for those of you that don’t know either, if it helps… the doctor was stumped too! But I think it takes a specialist to figure out something like this, not just a general doctor.

Sounds to me like endometrial tissue. Since all you ladies also suffer endometriosis like I did when young, I'd have to agree with what you all have said.  I'd also like to know how you cope with it.  In my day, (like I'm 100 lol)  the treatment for endometriosis was a course of Danazol and then a hysterectomy after you had completed your famiy, that is if you were lucky enough to have children by then. Is the treatment still the same?? I'm in my 50's now and wonder if science has advanced any further.

Go to your follow up on Tuesday and see what the dr says, if you'r not happy can you go and see a gynaecologist? Good luck with it all and please let us all know how you get on. And good luck to all you ladies who suffer the dreadful disease. Ohh... and how many of you have had children since being diagnosed with endometriosis? I was lucky enough to have 1 child after treatment, but had already had a daughter before he was born. It took 5yrs to have my son and I feel really blessed that I was lucky enough to have both of my kids.

Anyway, keep on smiling all of you, I know exactly what you are going through.

How long can a miscarriage stay in your system???

I also had endometriosis, and had 7 miscarriages. When i micarried it was painful and bleed heaps more than normal i that could be possible. when i was having a period month i would pass tissue and was not painful. Doctors told me it was my linning that was coming away. They looked different wen miscarried it was a small egg filled with a water and had blood inside and wen i passed tissue it looked like hard but moist skin and different colours all the time. Dont no but good that u saw doctor and wait until u get results back. Dont worry until then becuase ull make ur self sick. If it was a miscarriage it should of made u feel unwell becuace of poisin it leaves. Let me no how u go

How long can a miscarriage stay in your system???

I had two miscarriages and both times I had to go in and make sure all was out otherwise it could lead to bad infections.

I also have endometriosis, I used to pass large clots and some tissue.  The tissue was usually more a light pink, not gray.  Since I am currently on the pill to eliminate my periods I have not experienced that since before I had my baby.

Keep us posted, many thoughts and prayers that everything is OK

How long can a miscarriage stay in your system???

If it was tissue from a miscarriage from so long ago I think you would find that you would have a really bad infection by now. Something that would have most likely been bad enough for you to go to hospital for. I have never heard of anything like this before so I am sorry I am not much help but good luck on tuesday I hope everything works out ok.

i agree if it was a miscarriage from four years ago or more you would be realy sick with a severe infection... probably in the hospital by now attatched to drips and all sorts of things...

I must admit you have me totally stumped
