ask them over for dinner and tell them that u want to thank them for something they did for you years ago and that u still remember what they did for you , they are not dwelling on it after all u ran into them again and they are still talking to you ,, stay in touch

the worst thing is i fell really bad and that i may have taken advantage of her she is one of my daughters godparents but that is more to do with my partners friendship to her.

It's not corny to thank someone - even just for being a friend. I agree, tell them how you feel, I am sure you will make their day, even if they don't admit it to you!!

tell them exactly that, say i didn't know how to thankyou without sounding corny, but when i caught up with you the other day it made me realise how much you helped me, and i really want to say thankyou, maybe even get them a little gift nothing major just something small to show your appreciation, hope this has helped
