Hi I have a nephew with autism and I also use to work with children with autism before I had the boys.  Early intevention is the best thing.  Try and find out as much information possible about schools and stuff.  If you need to know anything let me know as I would love to try and help.

Hi again just thought I'd mention, These kids are usually very bright just wired differently, don't take in all the negative feedback from teachers, doctors , friends, help your child find something he is good at and run with it!!

Hi, I've got five boys, one 13 with asbergers syndrome, he's very litteral, daydreams alot, gets into a lot of trouble at school, is constantly suspended, but is sweet and my little boy.

Yes you are in for a sometimes bumpy ride, make sure you tap into an autism support group, keep your bond tight with your hubby as these beautiful children take a lot!! of time from your relationships, get some parenting classes(for difficult children)and don't stop looking fornew tips or avenues to help, keep an open heart and mind. love your child anyway.

bless you

p.s if you believe in Christ, lean on your faith I do daily!!

hi i have an autistic stepson, when it comes to school never expect too much and treat every little achievement as a big thing and always reward it in some way but not with food.encouragement is vital and include people who your child allows to come close and that there is relationship with.most of all enjoy the school years with your child.

Hi there,  My beautiful two & half year old nephew has just been diagnosed with Autism after six months of tests.  He lives on Sydney's Northern Beaches and has just started at Dalwood which is for children with learning difficulties and Kookaburra Playgroup which is only for children with special needs.  Your Early Childhood Centre Nurse would be a great person to talk to about getting your little one in classes like this in your local area.   Best of luck.
