Whats going on with breakfast?

Hi all, my dd has always been a great eater. As of late she has decided she doesnt want breakfast and refuses to eat it. I have always provided a variety and I just dont understand why she wont eat. When I ask her why she wont eat she just tells me " I dont want it !!!"

I know breakfast is the most important meal and I am more than a little concerned about her falling into the trap of regularly missing breakfast, any advice would be great. DD is very, very stubborn and strong willed, and the arguments at brekkie time are becoming tiring.

Whats going on with breakfast?
My youngest is nearly 4 (next week) and he too has recently been refusing breakfast. I really don't make too much of it because he will usually ask for some fruit or something mid morning. So he eats when he feels hungry and he will go back to breakfast when he feels hungry in the mornings I am sure.

Whats going on with breakfast?

My daughter did the same thing at the same age as yours. It was just a stage though and she did get over it. What I ended up doing was compromising with her and introduced smoothies into her morning diet. She wouldn't eat a thing but she did drink. I would make fresh fruit smoothies with milk and yoghurt and she loved them. I eventually changed that to fruit and yoghurt in a bowl and then fruit and cereal and...you get the picture..

This way you still provide the right nutrients, if not better ones, she is having something healthy for brekkie and it gives her the energy she needs through out the day and all without going through the hassle of trying to get her to eat, per say...

A question though, does she go to morning playgroup or anything where they provide breakfast? If so she may prefer to wait 'til she's with her friends. Also you may try giving her a late breakfast. Her body is changing and she may just not be hungry first thing in the morning. Hope this works for you...good luck.
