hi everyone... our baby is nine months old, sits up alone, gets around great in her walker.... but no matter what we do she just wont crawl.... i know everyone says she'll do it when shes ready but our oldest daughter crawled at six months and walked at nine months.... our baby gets so furstrated cuz she cant get around but doesnt seem to even try to crawl.... has n e 1 else had this problem with their kids???
My 2yo didn't crawl until after she could walk, she shuffled along in a sitting position instead. I figured as long as she could get what she wanted, that was good enough. She did eventually crawl, but by then it was a fun thing and not a way to get around. I agree that the walker may be a problem. She won't be developing her muscles properly in a walker and she may walk on her own much later as well. Good luck.
Have you given your baby plenty of tummy time? If so don't worry, every baby moves at their own pace. Some don't even crawl, they just pull up and walk one day. I for example crawled at 6 months and walked at 10 months. My sister didn't crawl until 9 months and didn't walk until she was a year old. If your baby has an older sibling(s) this could be why too. Why should she crawl if there is someone there to hand her toys and other thing? She will crawl with time. All babies are different. Good luck!!!
Hi there i have 2 children 2 and 1. Both my kids didnt crawl at all the just started to grab onto furniture and before long the took a few step and then the walked. My youngest crawled 4 months after she walked. Every child is different and ur child will work it out wen ready.
You need ro stop comparing the 2 children, they are all different and they develope at different level. All 4 of my boys were all walk between 9 and 11 months. My 5th baby didnt walk until 13 months. He just had lots of people to carry him around.
Put toys around the house that are interesting, if your baby is determined to get them, they will.
With my first child I really had no idea how quickly he would learn to do things like crawling. He was zooming around on all fours at 5 months and other mums seemed impressed. "Wow he's starting early" was a common comment. I took it with a grain of salt as I never really thought about things like that, I was just excited whenever he reached a milestone at any age. My second child was exactly the opposite. She could sit perfectly at about 5 & 1/2 months, and that was all she was interested in. I gave her lots of "tummy time" but she didn't really enjoy it and would start whinging after a minute to be put back into the sitting position. By 8 months I started getting comments like "oh she's STILL not crawling? Bit of a late starter..."
Suddenly at 9 & 1/2 months she just started crawling. There was no build up to it, no rocking or wriggling backwards. She just decided to do it. I still don't know when a baby "should" start to crawl, but I do know that all kids are unique and will do things when they are good and ready. I know of quite a few who skipped crawling altogether and one day just got up and walked!
hi there.. my daughter who is now almost 4 never crawled.. i used to get really worried about her. everyone i knew with children said that there children crawled around 6 months.. when she turned 1 she still wasnt crawling i spoke to the dr and was told that she would crawl when she was ready.. but she never did.. at 11 1/2 months she got up and walked without a problem.. she never stumbled and fell down she jus walked.. maybe your little one will be the same..
no worries. She'll get it when it is her time. My friend's baby had a similar situation and she went right to walking without ever crawling!!! If you are really concerned (and it's still a little early for that), you can work on putting things out of her reach that she might want to have. This worked for us and this is how my son learned to crawl. Don't worry. She'll be fine.
HI THERE ALOT OF THEY DO THINGS DIFFERNTLY SOME KIDS DO THINGS FASTER THAN OTHERS BUT SOUNDS TO ME MAYBE YOU DAUGHTER IS TRYING TO SAY THAT SHE WILL WALK AS MY SON WALKED HE NEVER CRAWLED BUT TRY AND STOP PUTTING BUBS IN WALKER AS THAT WILL SLOW PROGRESS RIGHT DOWN PUT BUBS ON STOMACH AS THAT WILL GET HER GOING SHE NEED TO BUILT TO STRENGTH IN HER ARMS AND LEGS AND HER NECK BUT HONESTLY DONT STRESS TOO MUCH HAVE A CHAT WITH THE NURSE AS LONG AS SHES DOING OTHER THINGS ....YOU WILL PROBABLE FIND ONCE SHE STARTS SHE WILL DO THINGS FASTER THAN YOUR OTHER CHILD AND VICE VERSA SHE WILL BE OK
"i know everyone says she'll do it when shes ready" - that is true. Some babies don't crawl at all. My son walked around holding onto things long before he crawled. My eldest didn't crawl until she was 10 months. A friend of mine has an 11 month old who is not crawling (but he does get around). All babies are different, and all crawl, walk, whatever in their own time.
Some people tell you to do things to try to make a baby crawl or walk. That's a big no-no. If you try to force it you can damage the child's bones and upset their co-ordination. Encourage them, sure, but don't force. Give her plenty of time on the floor and be patient! She'll get their when she's ready.
I had this problem with my son and and it was the walker that was the problem. Why move under your own steam when you can sit down and push yourself around and if your lucky someone else will push you. The walker made my son lazy as he could sit when he moved as a resault he couldnt work out why he could not move when sitting. Try taking the walker away for a few days and lay your baby on their tummy often
hi taz,
I know what its like, i went through the same thing with my daughter! I took my little girl to the early childhood clinic more frequently and asked if there was something they could do! They gave me exercises to do for her which involved her laying on her tummy, putting arms out in front of her, and pushing one knee up (not underneath but a little to the side as she's laying on her tummy) and then bringing her other knee up to the same position, which if reaction works right way (and it did with my daughter) they will move hand...most probably both at the same time....so be prepared for a few tiny 3 cm falls. I repeated this 5 times a day for 4 weeks and then my daughter was crawling, but each baby is different!
I recommend that you do however, see an early childhood development nurse for further recommendations and exercises for your little girl.
I worked in a nursery for a year and i had 2 children whom had no real interest in crawling they started about 10 months and then took a little longer before they walked. Some children are just happy doing what they are doing. if she wants to do it enough and is provided with the opportunities to do so she will soon enough.
Hiya, my daughter never crawled at all!
She did walk at nine months but it was not until she was 12 months that she could stand unsupported, she used to pull herself up against the furniture and just leg it across the room, if she fell then that was it until someone moved her. And she would loudly ask to be moved
Each baby will do each stage at a different rate so don't worry, sounds like your baby is doing very well without crawling
i think they tend to say as long as they are crawling by one, my friends baby was the same i think she started crawling at 10 months. I have also heard of many babies going straight to walking. So dont worry. :)
