moles

my son has a big mole on his leg, it seems to be larger and larger, is there anything I can do to stop it from growing? The doctors say it is fine, we had it checked by a dermotologist.  I just dont want him having a issue with it, from being teased at school.

Hi there,  When my beautiful little niece was born she had a very large very dark hairy birthmark on her forehead above her left eye.  Both my brother and sister in-law were so upset for her future so they decided to have it removed.  It took 1.5 years and several operations to remove it because she was a baby and they had to stretch the skin and so on.  She is now 4.5 years old and starting school this year and there is no evidence of anything being there at all.  She is such a beautiful little both then and now.  Good luck

If the doctors aren't concerned, that's a good thing.

I don't think you can stop kids getting teased though.  If he didn't have a mole, they'd find something else to tease him about!  The best thing you can do for him is help build his self-esteem and teach him coping mechanisms so that if teasing should occur, he can take it in his stride and not get knocked about by it.

I so agree with this comment... it is excellent advice. I believe The more we draw our children's attention to something, (as in this mole), the more self conscious they will become about it.

I have crooked teeth & they never bothered me, until one day someone made a passing comment... that comment has stayed with me to the stage that it is a rare thing to EVER find a photo of me smiling. I'm a naturally happy person & love to laugh, but usually I 'contain myself' when even amongst friends & especially in crowds rather than let people see my horrible teeth. If the doctors aren't concerned, I wouldn't be either

If you are really worried about how it will affect him I would have it removed. I don't know of any way to stop them growing at all.
