napping

Thanks for the feedback about my daughters too short naps. Just a question, how long does your baby sleep at night? Mine is sleeping 11-12 hours. I think the reason she can't nap is b/c she is getting too much sleep at night, I mean 12 hours of sleep? I wouldn't need a nap either. I have talked to the doctor, he thinks the night time is too long, I need to shift the sleep time at night to day time naps.

My 3 year old sleeps 11.5 hours at night. No daytime nap.  I never pushed for a daytime nap as she didn't need it and I needed that extra time in the evening.

My son is 2 and a half yrs old and he sleeps 12 every night and no day time naps, by 8pm hes that tired. im happy with his sleep. If you feel comfortable with ur child sleeping 12 hrs without a day time nap then thats ok.

12 hours a night is completely normal and so is 12 hours a night plus several hours a day nap.  At that age, sleep promotes sleep.  She's still going to get tired during the day no matter how long she sleeps at night..  She's just a bub.  It's natural.  My daughter is 2 and a half and sleeps 10 hours at night and two and a half horus during the day still.  Before she dropped her last nap (just prior to age 2) she was sleeping 10 hours at night and two two hour naps per day.  They need sleep.  p.s. your doctor's advice seems a bit odd - have you asked your health nurse or someone who specialises in the area?????

My daughter has always had a minimum of 11 hours up to 13 hours sleep at night (not a morning person & neither am I).  She used to go to bed when an infant at 1pm & woke at 11pm was up for 2 hours & went back for another nap from 45 min (when I would wake her) to an hour (if left to herself), she'd then be up for 4 hours and have another 45-1hour nap in the afternoon, back to bed for a LONG night sleep again.  Only this past 6 weeks or so has she begun goining to bed around 8.30-9.30pm and getting up 12 hours later & she's a week off 14 months.  I think your bub is completely normal & you are one of we lucky few who get a good nights sleep......smile and enjoy....NEVER QUESTION LONG SLEEPS!!! LOL
