Blotchy Face

My 20 month old daughter seems to have 3 red blotches appearing on her face. She has had them before and its turned into a complete all over body rash, and when i took her to the hospital the triage nurse said it was just a viral rash and that it was nothing....although i swear it was measles!
This time it is doing the same thing! My doc is fully booked and i don't want to take her to the hospital because the triage nurses and doctors are really pathetic, they make her have a dose of panadol and sit in the waiting room for 3 hours before doing anything?
Does anyone have any advice?

This used to happen to my second daughter with every viral infection she caught. I also discovered that it often appered behind her ears 24 hours before all other signs of illness. If temp get dangerously high or dosn"t respond to panadol don 't hesitate take her to a doctor and don't let them fob you off. A polite but forceful mum who very direct will usally get their attention. Hope she gets well soon ! PS Vinagar in warm water wiped on the skin can also bring down a pesistant temp.

If you are very concerned and you feel that this is something to worry about then I would take her to the doctors, at the end of the day Mummy knows best and its better to be safe then sorry, don't worry if the doctor acts as if you are wasting their time or if it turns out to be something minor, you will have set your own mind to rest and done what any worried mum would have done.

I hope she gets well soon.

Hey Kayla,

Zack gets this all the time since he had an extremely bad viral infection. They are nothing to worry about unless she has a high temp or is rubbing at her ears or seems unwell in any other way. Zack has them and no other symptoms he dosn't even notice. At first I freaked out and had him at the hospital but we have a great emergency department here and they are always so reassuring. They checked him over thouroughly and said that unless he shows any other symptoms of illness then he is fine it will come and go.

Do you know how to tell if it is menigicocal rash or not?

Does she have naturally dry skin?

My daughter suffers from Exzma and has dry skin.  Whenever she has a breakout it starts with only 1-2 little spots and then overnight spreads over her belly and back.  I'd make an appointment with your Dr (or go to the hospital and hopefully get a different Dr).  When you are there ask if it could be exzma.

Good luck and hope that your little girl is OK.

but don't you get eczema from the time you are born?
She's never had anything like it from birth.... and she only had a mild viral infection with an ear infection about a month or 2 ago.....i have seen eczema, and it looks nothing like it! However, i will make an appt, as i could be wrong, but i really feel it isn't eczema! It's not scaly and she doesn't scratch at it!

no you don't get it from when you are born, or at least my daughter didn't. i have seen eczema too and its not like what my daughter has, its a few bumps here and there on her legs and arms and it can go anywhere on the body.. i was at the dermotologist when i asked about it and thats when she said that its eczema! My daughter also don't scratch at her's, but i would defiently get it checked out to make sure 100%
