Need help

Hi how does one join a mothers group?

Taylor is nearly 2 and has never really played with anyone his own age. Are there any other children who have been isolated like this?

Where I live I don't know many people and family live early 3 hours away by car. So needless to say we don't get many visitors unless it is next door wanting something lol.

Hi I moved to the Mornington Peninsula in Melbourne about 9 months ago and the first thing I did was join a playgroup.  I have made several really good friends through the group and it is fantastic.  You should contact Playgroups Australia and find out which ones are in your area.  I don't know where you live but if its anywhere near me - let me know! x

I dont have any advice for you but I do want you to know that I am going through the same thing.  I recently moved and I dont know anyone and all my family is 2 hours away by car.  I tried to go to the library but they said my daughter is too young and nothing i seem to do is working.  I am very shy so when I take my daughter to the park it is hard for me to just strike up a conversation with other parents.  Just wanted you to know your not the only one.  If you find something that works please let me know.

I looked up playgroup australia and they told me where the nearest one to my area was, also theres a magazine in brisbane called brisbane babies I think that has all info on whats on in the city and all sorts of activities and groups, you can pick them up at baby stores like baby co etc. Your local council member should also be able to steer you in the right direction ( well hopefully )

Community health centre was where I got all my information about playgroups amd mothers groups. I then just went along and introduced my self at both play groups and picked the one Zack and I felt most comfortable with.

Thats tough. Mothers groups are usually formed as soon as your baby is born. Try going to the early childhood clinic near you and ask them if there are any groups. Also ask on minti, someone may live near you. Good luck with this. Keep your head up, you will find something soon.

Do you have access to a community nurse????  They have loads of information about playgroups and getting together with children your childs age.

Try this site www.cyh.com see if they can help you, or www.playgroupaustralia.com.au
