I was wondering if anyone has had, or is having the same experience as me.
I am now almost 17 weeks pregnant with my first baby and for the last month or so I have been experiencing quite intense headaches in the afternoons. They seem to come on daily at approximately 3pm and can sometimes last into the evening, usually forcing me to have an early night.
At first I thought It was mild dehydration but I am very conscious about the amount of water i'm drinking and have more than enough. My doctor said it's par for the course and not to worry.
Does anyone have any home remedies or ideas to beat these annoying headaches ???????
Hi Bella, I only got them with my first child 10 years ago and again but not so bad with the second 3 years ago (OMG I feel old!!!!!) anyway again it was only during the first trimester and during the heat and working in a busy Laboratory. By 3.00pm I would have whoppers and have to drive home and have a cool shower, grab a wet flannel and turn the fan on and lie down in a dark room with the flannel on the back of my neck. The other thing I use to do was rub lavender oil into the soft fleshy parts at the side of your eyes (just above the bone around the eyes).
Hi i am 16 weeks pregnant and have the same thing (i tend to get morning headaches which last most of the day).
I find the main problem is the heat, what is a nice day to most seems to be just to hot for me at the moment.
I like the idea of going to bed early - (not possible with a 1yr old who wants dinner, bath, story & play). What i have found that works for me is keep cool, put your feet up, close your eyes put a damp facewasher over your foreheat for about 15 minutes. This usually recharges me for about 1hour.
yep have to agree.. make sure your blood pressure is normal.. it could be the cause of your headaches, as well as any blurred vision you might be experiencing..xoxo
I get severe migrains and i took excederine ,but after i got pregnant i couldnt take anything, but tylenol and it didnt help.i was told that it is a sign that there could be something wrong like dehydration, fatigue,or complications, also it can be normal during pregnancy.I developed gest.diabetes and they gave me a list of what can trigger, some smells, foods, lights etc...do some research on what causes heade aches and how to avoid them.good luck
Hi
Put your left hand in front of you palm down and see the skin between your first finger and thumb
Place your right thumb on the fleshy part and your first finger on the underside fleshy part and massage it
There is a pressure point there that helps ease headaches.....
You can rub some peppermint oil on there as well....not only is peppermint oil calming but it helps to clear your sinuses a bit as well relieving tension there.
This can help
you also have pressure points on your face in the middle of your cheek bones approximately level with the middle of your eyes....pressing there can also help ease headaches
Also my doctor recommended polaramine which is safe for the baby as well
Hope this helps
Luv Deb
I hate to tell you this but yes they are a common thing... I used to get them too.. Not much fun...
I would take tylenol. Safe to use while pregnant.. Sorry not sure what the Aussie version of that would be...
I hope you don't suffer from them to badly....
good luck...
I had teh same prob all thru my last pregnancy, and found that MigraSticks work really well. You can get them over the counter at the chemist and they smell really nice too!
