what would you do?

so you go into a photo printing shop and you have your son near you just touching a screen thats not being used.he is not harming it and not causing trouble .the shop owner tells your child to not touch, you go ahead and tell your child to not touch ,but like most children a few seconds later he touches again, instead of the keeper telling you if you could move your child because he is bothered at the fact he is touching his machine ,he goes ahead and smacks your child in the hand .what do you do?

my sonis autistic he is 7 years old with the brain of a 2 year old he has littel speach and i have 3 other children they were doing nothing wrong just sitting and watching my son touch the screen as he has done for over 2 years in another printing store when hearing my son being told not to touch we told him dont touch but knowing he could do no harm and did not want him to start a commotion if we moved him we let him sit where he was but upon hiom touching a second time the man took action into his hand and smacked his hand,we went to the police and demanded him be charged !

what would you do?

would you go further?

Oh my god girl, I'm sitting here reading this with steam coming out of my ears! How dare he!!! I don't give a rats ass if your child knocked over a display and threw printer ink all over the shop, it doesn't give him the right to  lay a finger on your child and it sure as hell didn't give him the right to smack him. After you get him sacked, take him to the cleaners and make him pay!

well iam so happy i have so many people on my side !

this morning we got a call from the c.i.b and they told my husband that they spoke to him and he said he just did not want to ahve his machine damaged .

no excuse really ,like i said he could ahve asked us to move him he is no relativive of ours.

then the cib bloke said to hubby that we shoulent bother with such petty thing because the courts will just say we are wasting their time .

how stupid is that !so in another words let him get away with

no bloody way! i ahve printed your feedbacks so i may show others that iam not the only one that feels this way.

it might have been just a smack on the hand but it was a samck that should have never happened.my husband never smacked him because he new he would get into trouble ,if an ault amcks an adult you get charged but when its a child its not important.iam indeed going to call on the media and anyone else that will listen i hope if you guys see us on the media you back me up and let the media hear your voice to,iam going to take him on head first for my son and for all the other kids.

BRING IT ON!

i know if i had seen it happen i would have broken everything of his or puncehd him one as iam red fire but hubby keeped his cool told him off and we walked out but i deceded bugger this call the police.but hubby went back after we called the cops and warned the guy he was going to be charged he did not care,as if he new he would get away with it ,unfortunatly he owns the shop so i cant get him fired.

i will keep blogging on this matter.thanks everyone

You have my permission to share my views on this subject with anyone you wish! This lowlife SOB is a complete ass! How dare he think that smacking a child is ok and that you should get over it! If you want never mind want heres my e-mail address anyone can use it to get in touch with me scottychink@yahoo.ca! I have found that some people are offended by my e-mail address as they feel it is racial slur! It is anything but that! Scottychink, was the name of my Dad's throughbred jumper, and to remember my father who passed a long time ago I chose this name as my e-mail address> So anyone who want to contact me can use it! Sorry I got off subject! I still am extremely angered by the actions of this guy and I will try to do what ever I can to aid you in your quest to right this terrible wrong.Keep in touch Dawn.

Sorry I wouldn't not have even got to the police - I would kicked this guys ass till he begged for mercy.  How DARE someone do that, I don't care if your DS is autistic or not - NOBODY touches your child much less smacks them.  Go after this clown, he clearly needs to be taught a few lessons.

My first course of action would be to get in touch with a lawyer, next do not ask the police to charge him, DEMAND that they do so! This is assult on a minor! Next I would get in touch with the owner of the store and demand that this person who struck your son be dismissed from his position in the store! If this all fails, go to the media, and explain to them what has happened! Perhaps this "person" can explain to thousands of people why he smacked an autistic child! To say the least I am sure that the owner will not want negitive attention to his store! Don't let this one slide! Had it been me, I would most likely have let loose on him right then and there and caused a scene one which hasn't been recreated since "The Taming of the Shrew!"

Sue his arse!!!!  Sue him personally after the charge of course, then sue the store owner/ manager and if it's a franchise sue them too.  Then I'd ring a current affair and today tonight and all those and I'd start a HUGE cuffuffal.  My 5 year old neice was slapped at a Hungry jacks in a melbourne suburb whilst waiting with her 10 year old brother and their 10 year old friend whilst my Mum went to the loo and my 86 year old grandma waited at a near by table.

A stranger woman told my 5 year old excited to be getting Hungry Jacks for lunch to "Shut Up" and then when she didn't (not being overly loud or anythng, just being a kid in a child friendly restraunt) she slapped across the back of her head.  When my Mum returned from the loo and found out she was rope-able and yelled at this woman who in turn denighed touching my neice or speaking to her for that matter, so she was also a liar.  Not only were my nephew and his friend witnesses but my grandma saw it too and also yelled at the woman.

When my nephews friend told me over the phone that same night, I couldn't believe what I was hearing.  I was furious and there was nothing to be done about it.  There is something seriously wrong with the way the "some" current young childless adults seem to think they have more rights than parents/ guardians and for that matter, children.  More people should act out raged when it happens and take positive steps in scarying the CR@P out of those who think  their wait in line is more important than a 5 year olds, or that one un-used computer screen is more valuable than decent customer service, courtesy, class, empathy and understanding.  What was his big concern......finger prints??  Well now his will be on file in the police computers for ever and a day.

SCREW HIM TO THE WALL LIBBY!!

Oh, I'm back lol.

To be honest, if some stranger did that to my kid, I'd be the one getting arrested and charged with aggrovated assault!  My partner is behind me on the lounge disagreeing with me on that because he reckons he'd beat me to it and there wouldn't be enough left to hit.  Though I certainly would not recommend anyone else behaving that way!!!

Yes, I would push it further.  I'd push it all the way.

oh my God, if ANYONE dared to touch my child i hate to think what i would do.. im not likely to hit anyone, but THAT is NOT acceptable!! and i am fairly certain that that particular person would be able to slip through the cracks in the floor after i was done with them!!! i had the owner of a cafe once, tell my 3 yold son that if he didnt eat his lunch then santa would not be coming to him.. my now ex husband saw the look on my face.. gathered up the kids and got me out of there quick smart..NO-ONE talks to my kids like that. EVER! and certainly no STRANGER would ever HIT my child.. good for you !!

Have him charged. He just physically abused your son and I wonder how many other children he has done this too if he would so readily abuse a complete strangers little boy. People like this need to be shown that they can't just do whatever they want.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honey go get him. Srew him hard. How dare he touch your son. Have him charged. Don't let him get away with it. He is just lucky it wasn't me I would have belted him back twice as hard. But your idea is better. Make him feel guilty about hitting a child with special needs. What an a*%#@*^&. Take this as far as you can. Even call today tonight if the police don't help you.

Please give him a kiss on the hand for me. My heart goes out to you as I have a autistic son, so I know how you feel.

I would go to the police too.
It doesn't matter if he has autism.  If it against the law to smack children, what gives him the right to smack yours?
Good Luck!

Hello Libby

That is not right what that man did to your son.....how dare he take it into his own hands and take action. What did the police say?

If it was me l would take it further...to start it off l would have given this guy a piece of my mind on how dare he touch my child and how he was doing nothing wrong just touch and exploring the machine. L would also have told him to stick his store and take my business somewhere else. Just say l would have gone right off  and lost the plot at him - thats just me. l would have gone to the cops and told them the problem and how my child does not understand some things. Then l would have charged him and made sure the man paid for hitting my child as there are laws now in this. l would have pushed so hard in this for that man was wrong and he should NEVER touch a child .

Good luck Libby and l hope you dont go back to this shop, find a better place if you can.

Take care my friend

I would be outraged...I don't care if he was the store owner.....I would be opening my mouth and the words coming out would not be nice...thats for sure.

He had no right to smack your child and good for you for going to the police and pressing charges. Maybe he does this a lot to other kids and other parents just aren't as brave as you.

Hope things go well for you

I would certainly go further! I think that is ridiculous! How DARE someone else, ESPECIALLY someone you don't even know smack your child! YOU WERE EVEN THERE!

Some people are UNREAL! Fight for your childs rights... If not for yourself, you MUST do it for him! He needs to know for his own future that it is ok to stand up for your rights! Your other kids need to know that too!

Good on you for making a start by going to the police! Let me know how  you go!

Cheers and good luck! Es...xox

I agree, throw the book at him.......even if you were in the wrong,an adult does not have the authority to smack your child.Nobody does.take it as far as you can go. unacceptable behaviour from the shop keeper
