I think she hates me :(

My daughter just loves going to see her grandma - my mother in law - but when she comes home she treats me like a stranger she is scared of for at least 12 hours or so - she is 2 years old and knows very well who I am.

It's hard when she has been away for a day or so and then she comes home and doesn't want a bar of you

I have to agree with Marguerite.  What your describing is pretty common.  Being two, she is really at that stage where separation anxiety could be kicking in.  Rest assured that if you continue to respond to her with love and support, reading her cues, this too shall pass.  Hang in there!

It sounds like quite a common reaction that babies and toddlers have to seperation.  It shows, if anything, that she is very attached to you and that your absence has caused her a small amount of distress. Is it possible that it's too early for her to be away from you this long?  Or, if you do think it's important for her to spend time away continue with it but I wouldn't worry about frosty behaviour when she gets home.  I really think it's an attachment thing.  Two year olds don't hate their mothers!!! You'll have to wait ten years for that I think.
