baby kicking

I am 16 weeks preg(in 4 days) with my first child, When i was about 14-15 weeks i thought i could feel my baby kicking, it felt like light muscle spasms in my tummy, I only got it when i was laying down though. IT went on for a week or maybe a lil more, and now its stopped. was it my baby kicking, and now its stopped? is it normal? Whats going on!

Hey,

I know exactly how you are feeling, i had the same thing during my pregnancy with my first (had miscarriage before) and i was so worried about the kicking movements it used to drive me up the wall.

I was told that at the beginning it doesnt make a lot of movement (that you feel anyway) because it is still growing and still quite small but you will find that as pregnancy progresses and baby gets bigger it will get a lot more powerful with its kicks! Its like a little footballer starting out as a tryout and by the end its a state champion!

Anyway hope it all goes ok, keep us posted. Glad the heartbeat, etc was ok, hope the baby gets a bit more feisty and starts kicking some more!

Hugs sarah.x.

Everything merle said is spot on. With my three they all kicked me a very small amount at first so little in fact that you are really not sure whether that is really it even with your third. It does increase with time and it is the most wonderful feeling to see your stomach slowly bulge out it one little spot where the baby has put its foot or hand.

Hi there isn't it the most beautiful feeling,I liken it to little butterflies fluttering in your tummy.I found with both my bubs The movements did seem far and few between at first.Remember bubby probably moves when you are asleep too.As your pregnancy advances the movements will become stronger and more frequent. If you are worried go and have a check up.Enjoy your beautiful time hugs Merle

Hi there, I totally agree with the fluttering butterfly feeling.  Your little baby is still to weak for you to feel the kicks all of the time. Over the next couple of weeks he/she will get stronger and have control of his/her muscles so you will feel it more often.  I found that when I was more relaxed, lying down and during the night I could feel the kicks better.  Before you know it that beautiful little bub will be kicking, turning and pushing you around and keeping you awake all night.  It is the most amazing feeling, enjoy it.
