Breast pumps?

I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions re electric breast pumps, i have looked into some brands and for every positive review there is a negative one. I was told Avent Isis IQ  was good. Has anyone tried any pump they would absolutely vouch for?
Thanks!

Breast pumps?

When i had Shilah i was searching around everywhere for an electric pump for expressing and after researching i decided to go for the avent one as a friend had given me a medela one and it hurt like hell!!!

Unfortunately (or so i thought at the time) i couldnt' get the electric one as everyone seemed to be out of stock and i needed to begin straight away because she had thrush and i didn't want to catch as would be longer before i could get her back on the breast...  so i ended up getting the regular avent pump and it was fantastic!!  i did a bit of research before i bought it and even tho it isn't electric, it works even better than some of those that are...

i have since passed it on to my sister and she is loving it also!!  so i definitely recommend the avent brand - very comfortable and easy to use and i found it painless...

good luck!!

In my personaly experience, I highly recommend Medela Pump N Style. All Medela products simulate a let down, which is very important. Plus, this particular style of pump has a travel battery pack so you can take it with you and pump wherever you are. But Medela is quite pricey so you'll have to consider that.

If you are going to pump full time, a hospital grade pump like Medela is highly recommended. It will be a great investment. However, if you hare only going to pump occassionally, I would go for the less expensive ones.

But like someone said, you'll find someone unhappy even with the most recommended pump. The best you can do is what you've already done and read through reviews.  Read through the negatives and see if that negative review is relevant to your lifestyle.

Good luck!

AVENT breast pump is the best ,I found it very comfortable and not really that expensive as well. And also you get really good bottles for later as it has helped stop bubbles going into bubs tummy.Avent is a good brand i highly recommed it

Hi there,  Yes I used an electric Medela Lactina breast pump in hospital that they supplied me and it took 40 minutes to get out around 40ml so I would top that up with formula to make 60ml for his feed.  When I got home I used my own manual hand Avent Isis pump and I could pump out on average 180-220ml in 10 minutes.  It was fantastic.

Unfortuantely I don't think there is one pump that everyone says is good becasue some work for some and not others. If you visit www.mothersdirect.com.au you will find a list of pumps recommended by the ABA or possibly ring a lactation consultant to discuss the best one for your needs. I only ever used a hand pump because I wasn't returning to work and I only used it occasionally (they are not necessary in most cases unless you are going to be away from bubs for long periods) but I have been told that electric ones with adjustable speeds are good. Also look at ongoing costs like parts (tubing etc).

I have also heard good things about the avent isis IQ. Hope this helps you but I'm sure someone can help you with more firsthand experience.
