worried

well long story short, i took sienna to the doctors on tuesday as she has had an ear infection and has already been on a course of 2 antibiotics as it didn't go away the first time, now it still hasn't gone and i have been given something else to try plus ear drops, i am getting worried that she has had to much antiobiotics as she has been on it for nearly 4 weeks without it going away.

iam worrying even more as at chistmas time my MIL put her head under the water after just blatently ignoring me when i said firstly she has an ear infection and i wanted to introduce her in to putting her head under water no her, well thats another story anyway after doing it once she did it again and then again and then again after doing it about 5 -6 times i got very angry and told her for a start that is to much for any baby and she is now goin to make her ears worse well it has and now i am worried that she may develop problems with her ears because of it, what do you guys think help me!!!???? i am very worried i just want my little munchkin to be better again i hate her being like this!!!

def get another opinion then another if u need. docs r not gods all depends on their experience with the exact prob. ul find different advice from every one! this is only short term but if she s findin it painful get from the chemist auralgan for swimmers ear it has a local anesthetic and antiseptic and pushes wax and dirt etc. out of the canal. will give immediate relief. you just put into the ear and i use it on my bubs everytime ( dr told me it wouldnt help) but it does! u must b vigilant in getting the right advice

Get a referal and take her to a ear specialist. They are great. The specialist may be able to see something that a doctor can't see for e.g. maybe there is something deep down inside the ear. Don't leave it to long as ears are pretty easy to damage permanently. Good luck with your little princess. Hope she gets better real soon.

I had the same problem with my oldest son when he was little.  He had two doses of antibiotic and still didn't clear his ear infection.  Then they gave me the drops and they worked wonders.  I would start worrying however if the drops don't start to work within the next couple of days and I would insist on seeing a specialist.  Good luck.

Firstly I agree with seeing an ear nose and throat specialist I think four months of anti biotics is alot for a little one.

Secondly I would be making sure that your mother inlaw knows that what she did is classed as child abuse and it could have long term effects on your child and not just physically. Emotionally it could have a very large effect on your child.

Good luck with the specialist.

my little girl has had the same problem 6 infections in 4.5 months and 7 lots of antibiotics, that was about a month ago that she was on her last course. Anyway, I'd strongly advise that you take your daughter to see an ear nose and throat specialist while she still has the problem.... IF you are in sydney, take her to see Dr Geoffrey Hannell, as he is one of the best.....expensive, but good! He is my ear nose and throat specialist as well as my daughters now too, and i am 6 hours drive from sydney!
I have had 2 other specialists and neither of them did any good, so it just figures how good this hannell is hey!
Don't leave it too long though because it is hard with babies to determine what the cause is until the problem is there. If its too bad, he'll probably admit little sienna in to the local hornsby hospital for gromits! And if you're lucky he might even bulk bill you ....oh and by the way....good luck and i hope sienna gets well soon

hi i am not a fan of antibiotics i always try the health shop the only time that my kids go on them is if they are really sick!!!!! go to your nearest health shop and find out the best health shop is a hearbalest that mixes there own stuff i have done that before and was cleared up straight away with this mixture. The doc should be doing more cause 3 courses isalot for a child in my eyes i would demanding them to get it checked

but i reckon find a herbalist they are great
