Banana Banana

Each time i ask my darling angel what she wants to eat, she always replies with "narna" or each time she sees that its time for a meal she asks for a banana!
What can i do? I can't give her a banana each time she asks because too much potassium in her system isn't good for her! Any suggestions are welcome

I have a little monkey too. My son used to ask for banana all the time and wouldn't eat anything else. If I told him it was time to eat, he asked for "nana". In one day, I let him have 4 bananas once. But thankfully, he also liked peanut butter sandwitch so I gave him that instead sometimes. So for a short period of time, he ate peanut butter sandwitch and bananas.

Anyway, fruits are sweet and that's why children love them. If you introduce other fruits and give variety - grapes, apples, strawberries... etc, then he will likely forget about just wanting bananas only. Though watch out if you're giving citrus fruits as they can cause a very bad diaper rash.

oh how cute.
Thanks for the advice!
My little girl chomps through a big punnet of strawberries a week, sometimes 2! i always buy 5 different fruits, sometimes 6 or 7, and she eats them all....She just likes bananas lately though....and i think i have figured out why. Its cos she can say it and not any of the others, except for apple.

Glad I scrolled down and read that as I was going to ask if she can say the names of other fruits! Isabella asks for nana's quite alot too, but if I say they're all gone and offer her something else she'll eat whatever is on offer!

I agree with the others, give your daughter a choice of two foods, say peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, or fish sticks.  .  Two items to choose from works for us, but also you could give her just a few slices of banana, making one bananna last all day.  Tell her after she finishes her meal she may have them. also you might try telling her that  you are out of banannas, and would she like to try grapes, or apples etc.   And a t least she is choosing a healthy food.

oh yes, that sounds like a great idea!
Emily absolutely loves grapes and strawberries, mangoes, plums, peaches - just to name a few!
The apples we have here are very crisp though, so are very hard for her to chew, so she doesn't like them much!

Have you tried cutting the banana into 2 or 3 pieces( a dab of lemon juice on the end & glad wrap will keep it fresh in the fridge) then after she eats what you would like her to eat then she could be rewarded with a piece of banana. Just a thought. GOOD LUCK!

My daughter used to ask for wheat Bix, and my eldest used to ask for Narna's to, don't ask her what she wants just give her whatever you decide to give her, thats what I do now.  If I ask them now what they want they will say ice cream!!!

I agree, if I ask Amy what she wants for breakfast we get the reply "Chocolate Cake!" so I don't ask her she gets what she is given and I know what she likes and dislikes so I know what I give her she will eat. Your daughter is just practising her independence when it comes to choice which is great as it shows she is aware of what she likes but be warned giving her too much choice will confuse her and letting her decide what she wants all the time will lead to a child demanding her own way all the time and "Chocolate Cake!" for breakfast!.
