to sleep or not to sleep

Hi, i'm a single mum to a two year old extremly active/loud and wonderfully cute boy. My question is has any one got and ideas how i can get MYSELF to sleep i have tried reading, warm bath, warm drink, walking but nothing works even tried sleeping tablets but afraid that i might not wake up if ethan needs me. I'm managing ok on 2-3 hours per night at the moment but i know i'll have to crash sooner or later.

oh try going for a jog in the after noon just after tea to burn offf some of that extra anergy

try lavender bath bombs or oil in your bath and a few drops of lavender on a tissue inside your pillow case...

soft music for example an instrumental or something can also help.... get hubby to give you a nice massage if you can....

also another trick i find works is i find a spot on the wall or the light on my alarm clock and i just stare at it after a few minutes the eyelids get heavy....

reading doesnt work for me i get to absorbed into the book and completly forget the time....

One thing I found was if I had a lot on my mind I couldn't sleep.

I found getting a pad and pen and writing down all the things I was thinking of or worried about I could sleep. Take a good half hour to write it all down then see how you go :)

Have you tried sleeping whenever your gorgeous two year old has his nap?  Are you feeling stressed, or apprehensive about anything?

Be really active in the mornings, and ease off in the afternoons.  Make sure you have plenty of light during the day, and close off the blinds and dim the lights in the evening - this will help your body clock to know what time it is.  Don't eat high carb foods after lunch, as your body will be busy processing them, which may keep you awake too.

Try napping on the couch instead of sleeping in the bed, it could be more relaxing.

Meditation is great for sooooo many things. You can always Use an electric oil burner that dosn't need water (as these are pretty safe to leave going overnight they don't burn) and add 3 drops of marjoram,1 drop of vetiver, 6 drops of lavender. OR any one of these oils by themselves works great too- Lavender, Marjoram, Neroli, Ylang Ylang, Rose and Jasmine. Lavender eye patches can also help.

Good luck
